I wonder if most people who criticise communism have even read Das Kapital, or more modern communist texts that analyse the flaws and incompleteness of Marx' understanding of capitalism.

I don't really think you need to read into any more history, economics and philosophy to see where socialism falls short, it just needs some common sense, provided you won't just jump to conclusions based on emotional life stories of certain people.

What socialists usually do to justify their perspective is provoking emotional reactions and pointing out the tragedy of one person, even though avoiding that tragedy creates disadvantages for dozens of other persons.
