It is though, especially in Canada. Most "good" French wines are at least 100usd a bottle here, I can get ones of similar quality from South America for 30usd.
I'm not saying all French wines are bad, but when you're in Canada 30usd for French wine won't buy you shit.
Also most French wines do taste dull compared to wines from warmer climates, oldworld wines have always been this way.

I don't doubt it. In Japan it costs over 300usd for a bottle of Icewine I can drive down the street and pay 50$ for, always going to be cheaper domestic especially when it's something over-hyped like Ice-Wine or French grown wine.

I've got no clue on good German wine. They're mostly white, from the Rheinland. I only know Eltville and nearly all German wine stays in Germany.

My nan's memory is starting to get real bad. She is struggling to remember birthdays and will often repeat stuff when we talk to her on the phone. She is a 10 hour round trip away by car so it isn't like we can go see her every weekend.
Worse still is she married some African bloke she met when on holiday in Africa who seems to mean well, but he's been sending a fair bit of my nan's money back to Africa and my dad and aunt are concerned that he'll take all of it and run. If she wasn't with her new husband, we would of encouraged made her to move to our town because it means that we can all help to take care of her.
