Me and my brothers have a running gag where we pretend we're the adopted one because we all really dislike our dad.
My dad's an overly talkative alcoholic trucker who does nothing but work, drink and complain loudly because he's drunk and deaf. Nearly every Christmas he'll get a super special emergency delivery call which he of course, as any would do, accepts.
My mum is a literal doormat who is pretty much only still with him because she wouldn't be able to support herself, she got us into a legal dispute because she forgot to do a tax claim two years in a row which is a big no no when you own a private business, then when they sent the court notice she didn't tell anyone and when they sent the 2nd one my dad got it but it was too late to get actual legal help so they ended up getting sued for almost all of their superannuation.
When my brothers and I all moved out we basically stopped talking to them entirely, when I was still living there they basically never talked to me except to borrow money anyway so it wasn't different for me.
I almost feel sorry for him, he's nearly 70 with kids who don't like him, a wife who doesn't like him and no retirement fund besides what he'll eventually sell his trucks for. But at the same time I don't want to be around him either.
