Is everywhere in the world really warm right now compared to past years?

It's going to be 14 degrees on Christmas day here
>>
global warming isn't real

this was the most mild winter I've ever had

never seen any snow, only frost

The climate was going to change, it's been doing it for all time. Don't worry though because it will be 10 below zero next November as usual.

>>
Isn't the US and Canada very warm because of el Niño? I remember hearing about this from my brother who studied the shit in college

>>

That was the year NA had no snow and eastern europe was digging out shitty mountain villages all winter long. Pretty funny actually, most of us were glad you took it all.

>>
Yep, this time of year was always like 20-21C. Now it is like 30-31C every fucking day. Seriously fuck this country, man.
>>
>>52563136
It also has to do with our planets cycles. Our planet does not travel on the same distance/pace/way all the time, which leads to us having warmer and colder periods, on certain periods. I do not remember but they last about 50-100 years each, and we're in the warm now. So it's not global warming that's making the current state.

Actually then climate isn't one year but people decided it's the average of 30 years. So we need 30 Decembers not one.
>>
>>52564025
Do you mean the sun cycles? They take like 10 years only, and have the amount of sunspots as an indicator.
Also, the current cycle has a low as fuck quantity of them.

I know here no one cares about what happens in a third world country but... this year it's been pretty weird for us too, a dry winter that prolongated way too long with spring rains and now we're around 30°C everyday where I live
The temperatures are pretty normal for a mediterranean zone but the timing is the weird thing.

Anyways, have a nice christmass, a bloody hot christmass.

It happening or not, doesn't justify stupid blind actionism like raising taxes left and right that just hurt the middle class (we have to pay 5x as much for electricity as the Murricans, same goes for gasoline while big companies are of course exempt of bullshit like EEG), and going full banana with unreliable energy sources like photovoltaics in constantly overcast North-Western Europe

It's expected to reach up to 27 degrees on Christmas. Not too bad

It is a little warmer than last winter,I feel.
>>
>>52568980
But America was talking about a cult and I don't think anyone would be in a cult about the fact that the temperature has always gone up and down. But people could be in a cult that tells them humans are responsible for it. Also we could be at a peak now, then temperate would decrease. If we're left of the peak temperature would still go up. Nobody knows.

it's about to start snowing here in California

I think the weather this year has more to do with the El Nino than anything else

We have alot of snow, but it is still ten degrees F above normal, easily.
>>
>>52569567
True. But I guess when someone talk about a cult they are talking about human made climate change ecologists and about people who know temperatures go up and down on earth.
>>

>>52569706

>>

>>
I frequently read that El Nino's effect will mainly unfold in 2016. So which is it?
>>
>>52569797
It began in around September and affects global weather patterns through to the next year

I'm not a climate change denier but to say that this winter will be normal from here-on-out due to climate change is just stupid
>>
>>52569797
In Yurop it hasn't much of a strong effect
But I noticed that mild winters like 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2013/14 were all followed by rainy, cool summers here (I guess because the Atlantic is warmer in such years and pushes more rain on us, obscuring the warming summer sun)

El Nino is supposed to make our winter milder, but it's still not as mild as last winter where we had about as much snow as Kentucky due to a blob of warm water in the north Pacific.

Overall 7/10 pretty ok.
>>
>gold fish memeory

I remember cold winters, where it snowed mid april, just a few years ago.

I also remember warm winters 10 years ago, when it was 25 in november.

Weather is not a constant.
>>
>>52569921
the El Nino event is most similar to 97's in terms of strength, and it was pretty hot in Europe that winter. lots of flooding IIRC
>>
>>52569921
True enough, but as far as climate change is concerned in general (man made or not being completely irrelevant), the prognosticated average 2C will most likely hit Central Europe much harder than that.
This just as a side note.
>>
>>52570059
You mean 1996/97 winter? This was where we had our record low here of -18.3°C, with January 1997 also being the coldest month on record (mean temp -2.9°C)
>>
>>52570208
No, 97-98's El Nino

This is the strongest since that one
>>
>>52570208
Is that the all-time German record? We had almost -42C during the 1987 winter.
>>
>>52570236
Ah OK.
*checks database*
Well 1997/98 had following deviations
>Dec 1.1°C warmer
>Jan 1.1°C warmer
>Feb 1.3°C warmer
So yeah it indeed was a rather mild one, but not coming close to 2006/07
>Dec 2.0°C warmer
>Jan 4.0°C(!) wamer
>Feb 2.9°C warmer
Was this also a ninyo year?

you have to be SUPREMELY arrogant to assert than humans are solely responsible for climate change considering the large fluctuations throughout the history of earth before humans even existed.
>>
>>52580786
I don't think you'll find a single scientist who'd claim humans are SOLELY responsible, but it is undeniable that we are PRIMARILY responsible. Climate change is happening at a far faster rate than ever before, and it's way earlier than ever before. It's supremely ignorant to deny mankind's effects on our environment, currently we are experiencing a wave of extinction far faster and more devastating than any that has come before. The planet's biodiversity is at serious risk, and has in fact far exceeded predicted sustainable levels already.

The scientific community unanimously agrees, across all fields, that climate change is not only happening, but we are contributing to it significantly and in ways that will have far-reaching negative results even if we get it under control somehow. There is no debate over whether it's happening, only how exactly it's happening and what we can do about it.

It may be related to sun activity cycle. But western part of Russia really had very warm winters in last 10 years. I mean during the war the snow here layed from october and now this is the fifth year in a row when it falls in the end if December.

11 degrees in Moldova, is this a joke, God? IS THIS A JOKE?
In 2009, 2010 and 2013 I could barely clean my yard and sweep the snow from the alleys and now I go out in long sleeve.
At night I used to see the freezing moon surrounded by a halo and in the morning the hoarfrost would harden the trees' boughs.
But they forecast like -10 degrees for the upcoming days to the new year, even if it's a good temperature, we are going to have sunny days as well. I miss that blizzard.
