It's a dispute between SK and Japan. SK calls them Dokdo, Japan calls them Takeshima. SK controls them. Even Best Korea supports SK's claim.
The Liancourt Rocks name comes from a frenchman who saw them. This makes the asians buttmad because it de-legitimates their names. I prefer "Liancourt Rocks" personally as a neutral phrase, not taking a side in the above.
