Age of Decadence is an acquired taste and requires a certain amount of frustration tolerance.
In certain regards it's utterly brilliant however. When it comes to dialogue based role playing it's probably the most elaborate RPG since Planescape: Torment. The turn-based combat also has a lot more to offer than meets the eye at first, despite the fact that you only control a single character.
To me, it's definitely among the greatest RPGs ever made but I can see why not everyone would like it.

I don't think it's going to get much cheaper soon, Vince, the lead developer has a certain views on discounts and he remarked that he's not going to give a huge discount any time soon, simply because he doesn't want to punish the people who supported the game during early access by paying full price.

I've played a pre-release of Underrail which I liked quite a bit. It seemed very solid and reminded me of Fallout a lot. I have bought it recently but haven't had the time to look into the actual release version yet. I've bought Serpent in the Staglands quite a while ago and played it a bit, but I had a lot to do at that time so I haven't played it very far yet. Combat seemed a bit icky to me though, I think it would have been better with a turn-based system. The developers seemed quite sympathetic to me though and I really liked the games' art design which was reason enough for me to support it. Maybe if I find the time to play it a bit more I'll be able to judge whether it's actually a good RPG or not.

I like a lot of dialogue in RPGs and I'm a bit fan of PS:T (although the combat in that game was pretty easy, and you didn't even really need to prepare for fights most of the time). From what I've seen of it, it looks great though.

If that's the case, I'd say that Age of Decadence is definitely worth it. I've played it since the first early access versions and I put 200 hours into the steam release alone. It has a lot of replayability. Still, it's not like the game is going to run away and they've sold enough to be able to attempt future projects apparently.
Also there's the issue that Age of Decadence can be quite frustrating if you're new to it and don't yet know how things fit together, so don't say I haven't warned you.
