Because the global elites have secretly been colonising Mars for years.
They are using al of the resources left on Earth while securing their future, that is why they don't care about flooding the west with thirworders, it is a cheap labour force and they are planning on kiling us all off anyway.
Once they have the technology and resources and sufficient colony size, they wll engineer either a plague or WW3 to destroy the Terran population and they will live on, on Mars.
Remember, NASA has had the technology for a ship capable of that since the 80s but never built it because the propulsion system uses nuclear detonations, which goes against the SALT treaty.
