I dont know man, there are less important slavic countries and way more artificial. like montenegro
slovenian used to own a huge bunch of land, but lost it to austrians. they never really were rebelling, but heard it was best part of yugoslavia
don't know much of them aside being important part of Great Moravia, later to be subjugated by austrian germans. their nationality apparently originates from Carantania, which is now part of austria
>>52511634

The entire reason Carantania stopped existing was because of a rebellion resulting in most of the local nobility being killed of and being replaced by Bavarians.

It's not, slavs settled all the way from the Danube to the Adriatic.

The referendum 2 days ago overturned civil unions, fags only have a special "out of marriage union" now.
We're gonna be throwing away millions, having this referendum every year, curtailing the rights of a minority by a popular vote, and the sad part is, those against fags don't even know what the referendum is about.

Shame on the Slavs for colonizing Latin lands
>>52523236
We came in to protect the natives from...accidents...for a price, after the Lombards had left for Italy. The Latins survived for centuries alongside the Slavs (until about 1000AD - that's 450 years), even though the bishops had to flee before the pagans who wished to enslave people whom they saw as useless. There is pictorial evidence that the post-Roman population passed the Myth of Orpheus on to our ancestors, which I find to be really cool.

There's ample textual evidence, starting in the 14th century, that people in these parts still recalled Carantania even in the time of the first Slovenian writer Primož Trubar in the 16th century, and what's more, that the old native Carantanian lower nobility persisted into that same century, when they finally lost their privileges merged with freedmen.

Korotan is the old name of Koroška, one of the Slovenian lands. Those of its inhabitants that speak a Slavic language all speak dialects of Slovene, which means that Carantanians evolved into the Slovenes, as we became known in the 14rth century. The man who determined that the name for a potential Slovenian country was to be Slovenia in the early 19th century was himself from Korotan, which is now in Austria. See? Spotless continuity.

There were also Slovenian knights and merchants, and as we have already mentioned, noblemen, especially before a trend towards ethnic exclusion swept the German lands in the 14th century. We should remember after all that the first line of quoted Slovenian speech in literature came not from a peasant, but from a knight in the service of Bernhard Spanheim, Duke of Carinthia.

Vojsko is apparently a village near Idrija, but I would guess that it is derived from the personal name of perhaps the alderman who oversaw its establishment. I am not an expert in Slovenian philology either, but I have noticed that in some pre-19th century Slovenian texts, the word for soldier was not vojak but žolnir, like in Polish.

Depends on the dialect really, you even have identical folk songs where words like "vojak" and "soldat" are interchangeable.
Funnily enough some dialects also use the word žlahta for "family" which is the same as the polish szlachta which also means family but a noble one.
We was nobles n shiet.

I try to think of kosezi. Of our noble history and the great and proud democratic republican nation of Karantanija.

Great text. I'm proud of your trolling skill, fellow Sloanon because the power of our shitposting must grow and they should learn to fear our name, Croats first, and then all the others. I'm however not implying Carantania was a utopia, but the message is that Slovenian society has a history, that is not a class-deficient nation of peasants speaking a peasant language which was somehow forced to function as a sovereign state and society by modernization, but which still displays an air of subservience, corruption and provinciality (well, ok, maybe the latter) because of this sudden leap in cultural milieu. Even the most learned heads of Slovenia have misused the history of the industrialization process in Slovenia, which is not much different to similar processes elsewhere in Europe, to paint recent Slovenian history as a sort of inherited pathology that has its roots in a rural environment. This is perhaps funny, but it is also perverse.
