Korotan is the old name of Koroška, one of the Slovenian lands. Those of its inhabitants that speak a Slavic language all speak dialects of Slovene, which means that Carantanians evolved into the Slovenes, as we became known in the 14rth century. The man who determined that the name for a potential Slovenian country was to be Slovenia in the early 19th century was himself from Korotan, which is now in Austria. See? Spotless continuity.

Vojsko is apparently a village near Idrija, but I would guess that it is derived from the personal name of perhaps the alderman who oversaw its establishment. I am not an expert in Slovenian philology either, but I have noticed that in some pre-19th century Slovenian texts, the word for soldier was not vojak but žolnir, like in Polish.

Depends on the dialect really, you even have identical folk songs where words like "vojak" and "soldat" are interchangeable.
Funnily enough some dialects also use the word žlahta for "family" which is the same as the polish szlachta which also means family but a noble one.

I'm a NEET oldfag who's studying history with an eye on getting my magister degree (the second part of the 3 + 2 bologna study program) in English. I've studied English before and I think the consensus is that the good reputation of the English department at Ljubljana's Faculty is carried entirely by the linguistics part of the department. Then again, I have only studied briefly as an undergraduate and hadn't met everyone.
