Back in the early 90s, my family still had pukki like this every Christmas. But not with the horns and mask. He always had a bunch of dry twigs with him which was a punishment for children who had been naughty. But sing a few songs to him while crying in fear he gives presents. It was greatest entertainment for adults. Now it's exactly like in USA, with Santa Claus in mall and everything. I think people don't accept the traditional one because it's "child abuse". So children become entitled and spoiled.

Here in Asturias, we had a tradition called "Tributu del cura" (Tribute to the priest") when people gave presents (usually wood to keep the church hot and make it available to use) to the priest and sang songs about Jesus.
