The problem is that while it's common knowledge you're directing the oil profits into financial resources it's also no big secret the people are quite involved in the oil sector (which by and large really is all your economy) and the repercussion of the sector literally drying up will be a thing requiring state level attention.

Many of the people in the oil business have the education to become useful in other industrial sectors, or at the very least will require little reschooling. They just have to start funneling money into it, and stop closing shit.

What happens to the role of the state? The only way I see the adjustment playing out with minimal pain is through strict state control and planned economy for a period of no less than 10-20 years since you'll need to begin with the education system putting out specialists for emerging industry etc. I don't think the economy is going to self-adapt without major bankruptcies and workforce distress (not up to speed if you have strong unions or equivalent).

I'm not that versed in economy, but I think shipping is dead for Norwegians. Most of it is ran by pinoys and other asians, and it's hard to find a job as a Norwegian. Officers of course get a pass, and they can easily find jobs. But still, you don't become an officer without first being a deck hand.
