Why aren't Romance speaking countries cooperating much more with each other? At least Latin America and Europe and to a lesser degree former Portuguese colonies have big ties to each other and a common culture, past and economy. Helping each other out would benefit everybody and it would work out better for the Southern Europeans than the current EU does. Should we get a Latin Union or something? The last one was pretty shitty and didn't do anything at all though.

Firstable France is not a southern european country.
Secondly, just because our languages have some common roots doesn't mean we have feel related to those countries.
Thirdly, this cooperation would advantage Southern countries but disadvantage France.
