Ask a Puerto Rican anything.
>>
what's up amigo
>>
What's your opinion about this: >>52438277
>>
Why do you all immigrate to Connecticut?
>>
Why do poorto ricans think their entitled to US taxpayer money to bail them out, just because they fucked up their own finances?
>>
>>52439353
Nothing much. How are things in Israel?

>>52439439
Doninicans... Well... I like Dominicans. Don't know much about their political status. Never really cared much, either.

>>52439467
I don't know. I thought we all immigrated to Florida and New York City.

>>52439514
Because the people that do are lower-class poorfags that can't bail themselves out because they're too lazy to do anything.
>>
Statehood?
>>
>>52440411
I indeed want statehood. That can absolutely benefit us greatly. For some reason though, these dumbass democratic assholes on this island keep on voting for the PDP (Popular Democratic Party) which is in favor of staying as a commonwealth.
>>
tu habla asi papi?

Do you feel brotherhood with Dominicans and Cubans, as opposed to Mexicans and other non Caribbeans?
>>
>>52439336
The definition of "white" in puerto rico isn't totally correct you know ? tell me more about that

Why do all Puerto Ricans hate working?
>>
>>52442546
Everyone hates working.
>>
>>52442485
all the spanish speaking people from the carribian islands just refer to themselves as "spanish" in the usa, so everyone here thinks spaniards look like puerto ricans and dominicans lol

they have real identity/race issues
>>
De cual pueblo negro?
>>
>>52442570
To rephrase the question, I should have asked: Why do all Puerto Ricans refuse to work?

my b
>>
>>52442219
I feel my relationship to them is very good. I don't discriminate against many races, specifically other hispanics and europeans. I do speak like that sometimes, but only with my friends and I don't say words like "papi" and a few others.

>>52442485
It is hard to understand. I don't even kniw mich aboit it myself. From what I can gather, if you have mostly white blood, but your skin color is not white, you are still considered white. In terms of skin color, I am almost pale. My friend who is brown tells me that he is classified as a white person.
>>
>>52442632
¿What kind of mental retardation are you suffering from?
>>
>>52442657
In my experience, only darker skinned Puerto Ricans hate working (surprise surprise). My dad worked until he was in his mid-70s.
>>
>>52440567
No, fuck you. INDEPENDENCE

kek you'll just remain a refueling station
>>
>>52442546
Not all of them do. The lower-class people do, which I guess is the majority. It is obviously because they're lazy. Not sure when and why they started to become lazy, though. Back in the times before the 70's, we were as hardworking as hardworking could get. Now... Well... We would probably be in a much better situation.

>>52442652
No me siento bien diciéndole a la gente aqui el pueblo donde vivo, pero te puedo decir que vivo en el oeste.
>>
>>52442743
My grandfather worked until his 70's and even after he retired, he bought a house which came with a small bit of land in the back, so he started farming in it and growing his own food. He is till alive and doing it to this very day.
>>
>>52442885 >>52442743

I read somewhere that puerto ricans started getting lazy when the u.s goverment started nurturing them to become welfare roaches.
>>
>>52442744
>>52442818 and >>52442773 are right. Independence is a TERRIBLE idea. Look at how bad we are doing now with U.S. support.
>>
>>52443016
Well, like I said, I don't know much about it. It must be when that massive immigration from here to New York happened in the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
>>
>>52443016
That might be true for people who live in Puerto Rico, but all the Puerto Ricans I know in the US are hard working.
>>
>>52439336
Do most people in Puerto Rico speak English?
>>
>>52443113
>>52443113
Because the smart and hard-working ones with enough money to move out, move out. The poor stupid ones stay in their shitty slums doing little-to-no work.

>>52443277
I don't think so. Mainly the middle-class to upper-class population speaks English, but the lower-class ones do not speak much of it. Since most of them go public schools, where I don't think they teach much english, despite English technically being our official language since the U.S. took control. A little fun fact. I knew these two British brothers that moved here and came to my school who did not know a bit of Spanish and had a really strong British accent. When they left from the school and came back to visit, they came speaking in near perfect Puerto Rican spanish with slang and everything. If you heard them, you would think they were actual Puerto Ricans. Apparently, the University of Puerto Rico only has Spanish-speaking teachers and they had no choice but to learn from bilingual students.
>>
>>52439336
Do you like the reggaeton?
>>
Sorry for the late replies. My shitty Puerto Rican internet is fucked up.
>>
>>52443811
I despise it. I understand why you Chileans hate it so much. It's literally the same beats over and over with "singers" saying shit that doesn't even rhyme. It's supposed to be a Puerto Rican version of American Hip-Hop, but it is far from it. I know because I am a fan of groups like N.W.A.

>just because they fucked up their own finances

Cause the latent effects of colonialism, PRIDCO being shit, the relapse of section 936 of the tax code, and the welfare queen that is the US Military had nothing to do with that.

>>52439754
>Because the people that do are lower-class poorfags that can't bail themselves out because they're too lazy to do anything.

Don't blame the poor. They have never had the opportunity and resources to be lazy. Your '''''''''''''''''''government'''''''''''''''''''' is shit for so many fucking reasons.
> invest heavily in tourism, a negative cash flow industry as companies benefit from this infrastructure investment
> Manufacturing makes up 46% of GDP, yet lowest manufacturing wages, and government revenue from manufacturing in Western Hemisphere
> No control of income flows outside of federal government 'recommendations,' which generally lacks clear economic determination (is Puerto Rico a production economy, agriculture economy, service economy and almost always discourages investment in tech.
> COFINA's (bonds) relation to sales tax
> 51 state-controlled companies, most of which are not solvent, and are plagued with Zimbabwe-level corruption.

>>52439336
If continuing the current political status of Puerto Rico was not an option, would you want Puerto Rico to be the 51st State or be Independent?
>>
>>52443934
By "not continuing our political status," you mean if we weren't in a bad political situation like we are now, right? I would definitely be independent. I mean, having U.S. support would be great and all, but if we were independent, we would probably be part of NATO. Besides, it'd be really cool to see this nation have its own military.
>>
>>52443030
Look at how bad we are doing now with U.S. regulations *fixed*

Don't you want to shape the political and economic destiny of your own country? Or are you going to elect more welfare dicksuckers like Alejandro "The Cum Guzzler" Garcia-Padilla? The choice is yours fa.m but your fucked if you think more loans and subsidies from the US are going to radically change anything besides the public debt and income inequality
>>
Same lad from the last thread like this?
>>
>>52444265
Of course I want things to get better. I don't Alejandro "The Cum Guzzler" García Padilla and neither does anyone on the island with a brain. When I refer to the U.S. helping us, I don't only refer to welfare.
>>
>>52444080
PR military and NATO membership would be dope. Why isn't there a strong independence movement on the island? And the country was going to be independent, what kind of rights and amendments would you add to the new constitution?

Yes. This is me. Hello there friend. I still have your picture from last time.

>>52444442
I believe this island could have it own military that could rival those of other Carribbean islands, too. Saint Kitts and Nevis have their own military, for Christ's sake.
>>
>>52443904
Finally. I think the same, I'm also a fan of N.W.A too
(Sorry for late reply, I was seeing other thread)

Last question: What genre is more famous there, reggaeton and bachata? Only for curiosity. Here's many people listen bachata, I do not like, but I don't hate them 2bh

I think Puerto Rico is pretty nic, the quality of life, good people, culture, history...
(getting the reggaeton sure).
>>
>>52439336
Are you the same self-hating Puertorican from other threads?
>>
>>52439336
How many relatives do you have living in NYC/NJ/PA and Connecticut area?
>>
>>52444401
I want things to get better too, but I don't know if the current relationship of the US to Puerto Rico is beneficial to the island at all. How much is the federal government helping out? Perhaps not at all in the ways we like (efforts that aren't welfare) and not as much as we would like (given the money the island produces for the mainland).

See: https: //raulcolon.net/money-flow-puerto-rico-and-united-states/

Also is there any real difference between the major political parties in PR?
>>
>>52444650
I think Salsa is the most prominent genre here, but between Bachata and Reggaeton, Reggaeton is much more popular. It's so good to see a Chilean like us. The other day, there was one calling us subhuman, rice and beans-eating, Reggaeton-loving, niggers.

Just imagine. We could trade a small quantity of soldiers for outstanding equipment, training, and technology, allowing us to conquer the Lesser Antilles.

We'll pay our $70 billion once you pay your $13 trillion. Besides, what do you want me to do? I'm not a governor or prominent political figure.

Perhaps we'll keep our flag. We might be the state that stands out among the rest, due to how different we are from virtually anywhere in the U.S.

>>
>>52445814
You're right. But then again, it's not like these smaller Carribbean shitholes are any richer than us. Maybe if we were to invade them, we could amass an even bigger military and use it to take over the larger islands (Hispaniola, Cuba, and Jamaica) and conquer the entire Carribbean. However, that would give us more responsibility, but more money.
>>
>>52445814
Then again, Trinidad and Tobago IS the third richest country in the Americas...

so how many people there actually want to become a state?
also do you think its possible to become a state?

I heard you guys were reaching greece levels of debt
>>
>>52448050
There are many people here who want to vote for statehood. One year, the PNP (who are in favor of statehood) wins, another year, the PDP (who wants to stay a commonwealth) wins. I believe that it IS possible for us to become a state, especially now that Carson wants us to become a state and that García "Cum Guzzler" Padilla, the worst governor in 40 years, is part of the PDP, I believe that statehood will win this time.
>>
Well, I'm afraid that's all for tonight. I'm gonna go to sleep now. It's already 3 AM over here. I'll continue tommorrow at 5:30PM in Puerto Rican time. You can probably do the math yourselves. Just search for "Puerto Rico" and I should come up. See ya.
