What are your country's famous serial killers?
Probably Francisco de Assis Pereira, known as "maniac of the park". He raped and killed several women in a public park.
When he was arrested dozens of women from the whole country sent him love letters in the prison. Just a proof that women like being raped.
Jack the ripper is probably the most famous serial killer in the world, but if we're limiting it to recent ones either Peter Sutcliffe or Harold Shipman.
Harold Shipman killed so many people that homocide statistics in the UK specifically exclude him because it distorts the data so much.

Why aren't there famous serial killers anymore?
The most famous ones I can think of are Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy.

Guess we dont have an isolated, serial killer. There are groups tho.. we had a "Scorpion" paramilitary group that killed a lot of people (outside of Serbia), and at one point in time mafia (our version, not Italian) almost controlled the country for a short time, and also killed a lot of people.

A farmer that murdered and robbed about 18 passing travelers towards the end of the sixteenth century, and was executed in 1596 by the breaking his limbs with clubs before he was decapitated and dismembered and thrown in a nearby lake, his genitals cut off and thrown into the lap of his wife who was forced to watch it all take place.

The only one that comes to mind would be Axlar-Björn.
He was executed in 1596 by beheading.
The exact number of victims is unknown. It's believed he killed between 8 - 18 people. His victims were usually vagrants that visited his farm looking for work though witnesses were also taken care of.
His son was also executed many years later (1648) though this time by hanging. He was sentenced for an attempted rape of a housewife on another farm.
That guy's son, Gísli, (Axlar-Björn's grandson) was a thief and ended up being executed as well, by hanging like his father.
