The problem with American Snipper was that Eastwood's balls dropped off before he made it. Clint Eastwood directing the battle of Iwo Jima from a Japanese, perspective, using an all-Japanese cast, and exploring the cultural pressures Japanese soldiers faced which drove them to do the things hey did in WW2. Much fresher compared to the, "evil, suicidal Japs," angle most US-centric Pacific theatre media tends to have.
