I have been thinking about why Japan cannot become a fully developed first world country.
I think subconsciously, we like being poor and feel comfortable being poor or miserable condition.
During the bubble period, we could have invested for better housing condition or urban planning. But we didn't. All the money we made disappear or were spent for useless things.
Because we like modest and poor things by nature.
Being poor is sad but we converted it as an art calling it wabi sabi or minimalism. But this idea is fake. We simply like being poor subconciously. This is a sad thing.Because we will never become a fully developped country. Thank you for reading.
