Education > all, to be honest family. Immigrants are never going to stop entering countries that are safer, more stable, and more profitable than their own. I don't know why American citizens insist on remaining uneducated and with menial labor jobs and trying to build a wall to keep immigrants out, rather than spending some more attention on education to make ourselves more competitive in the international job market, so that immigrants can have the shit tier jobs we subsist on now. The US's human capital is toilet-scrubber tier when we have the potential to make way more of our citizens into highly educated, high-value workers and actually compete with other first worlders and bring ourselves some wealth. That's not at all what I am saying. Like I said, I am poor. Have been homeless. Right now I work minimum wage. I am almost 30 and this is my life. There is virtually no such thing as pulling yourself up by your bootstraps for a large chunk of people here, and it isn't like it's just a bunch of white people huddled in a corner who aren't getting access to these resources, and it's definitely not only immigrants from Mexico who are getting access to the resources.
I grew up in farming communities full of immigrants from Mexico and south America and many of them are NOT recieving any "resources". Many are even people who have essentially been duped and kidnapped into being here and are not even being paid by the people who illegally employ them. If there's anything that is a certainty to me, it's that someone running a business that is lightly regulated is going to find the cheapest labor that exists. In the U.S. that means either they are taking these lowest possible wage employees from Mexico, or they are moving their production to Mexico or China. I just don't see what amount of desparate paddling American voters could do to try and avoid these inevitabilities of the free market, especially if we are going to be against regulating businesses. (imo, regulating the employer is the way to stop these situations where foreigners are illegally recieving lower wages than citizens. I really believe you cannot stop the tide of immigrants forever. They are desparate, they will find a way, people sail across the fucking ocean in wooden rafts to get to better clay, and someone WILL hire them)
So the solution that seems obvious to me in response to this is, yes, of course continue to regulate, of course continue to have immigrantion standards, but invest some money into training and educating ourselves, which would be a policy that wouldnt be fighting against the current of what is clearly happening economically in this region.

I just think people ignore that alot of their mid-tier jobs are being lost to Mehmet in call centers in foreign lands, as much their low-tier jobs are to illegal immigrants on our own soil and that this isn't really a trend that is going to be reversed.
