Yes, in "collège" (from 11 to 14 years). We have to sing alone or with an other child in front of class. There is also flute lesson.

I barely remember learning how to play the titanic song and "imagine" by john lennon with the flute
at the same age, schools give 2 hours/week of music lesson, they teach scholars how to play the flute

We would listen to a song with a walking bassline for example, then the teacher would tell us to compose our own song with a walking bassline on the keyboards with a partner and then play it to the class afterwards, and then get mad when she finds out nobody actually did it and instead just fucked around with the built in sound effects of women screaming and farm animal noises to a drum and bass beat for 15 minutes

Learnt to play the simpsons on a keyboard. Really it was a doss lesson though, as long as you wasnt too rowdy the teacher didnt care.
It was garbage until highschool
