not him but there are extremely wealthy areas in detroit, look up grosse pointe

also greektown is nice and there's another little nice enclave of area in the downtown.

i dont kno anyone who got shot, but i do know people who got mugged and robbed. generally from fucking around in areas they shouldn't have been in (ive done this plenty of times myself)

it is actually quite a fun and interesting place, but it definitely isn't 'comfy'

my dads friend was shot by a cop because he reached for his seatbelt. He's paralyzed now. I don't know anyone else personally but I have a friend, older black guy, who I talk to pretty often in Greektown and he's lost a lot of friends and family to gang violence.

There are good things about Detroit, though...
http://www.greeningofdetroit.com/what-we-do/urban-farming

In a lot of neighborhoods you get to know all of your neighbors and you look out for each other. Also, there are lots of barbecue/grill shops run out of black folks homes both legally and illegally. And believe it or not, not all the blacks here are bad.

The lifestyle would probably similar to rural parts of Europe too.

There aren't many nightclubs except the biggest cities, most people do outdoor recreation like hiking, camping, hunting, kayacking, swimming. You'll be only as entertained as how many hobbies you have

that's sad and terrifying at the same time. are cops usually like that in most of the USA or only in problematic areas?

that's good but it can also be bad if people are too territorial about their neighborhoods. i get your point though

Only part of the state is. Some parts are mountainous and colder/wetter. Literally it's like a two hour drive from saguaros and heat in Phoenix to snow and forests in Flagstaff (well it's obviously only moderate in Phoenix when it's snowing in Flagstaff, but there's still a huge diversity of climates here). The one nice thing about Maine/New England I like is we do take our cuisine seriously in real life. Traditional New England dishes are eaten almost every day. Lobster is a really big deal

I have these at least every week if I can afford it.

Lobster rolls + Boston baked beans and popovers (our take on Yorkshire pudding) is our equivalent of Burgers really, a lot of fast food joints serve lobster rolls instead of burgers

Lads, I think we can all agree on the fact that the USA is nowhere near as culturally diverse as Europe. So anywhere in the USA would be quite the same to live culturally, I just pick a different state for different climate and scenery.

The grass plains of Ohio very much remind me of the grassy plains and farmlands here. I don't like corn so that leaves out about half of you're states anyways.

Montana has great scenery which is probably great for hiking. So that would be great.

Puerto Rico seems great for the climate and Caribbean culture while still being USA.

Texas seems to be the only state with it's own identity within the USA. The cowboy culture is quite cool. Also they have a lot of IT related jobs in Texas.

Downeast Maine is probably the best. My father bought a beautiful huge turn of the century 4 story home, walking distance from river and shopping, 2 car garage, 4 stories, original hardwood throughout, enormous rooms, 5 bed 3 with walk-ins, 2 bath, and half an acre corner lot, in a 100% safe and white town.
Cost was $59,000

I have seen huge mansi8ns, like 5,500 sq ft.+, even on the coast, go for under $100,000

Alright, challenge: find me the state that fits me best.

- Has jobs in IT.
- Spacious living and big houses, lot of land you can own. No pesky rules regarding what you can and cannot do on you're own land.
- Not too far from work/major city, max 30 min including traffic.
- Not too much religion of any kind.
- Ethnically diverse is no problem, even encouraged. Not too much of one kind though, should be mixed.
- Close to mountains / national parks.
- Lots of wildlife (not to hunt, just for looksies).
- No corn.
- Don't care about dem or rep but not too liberal.

Colorado doesn't sound too far off from that. We've got a growing tech industry, open land pretty close to Denver (the big city of the state), the metro area is pretty nonreligious, and the area is pretty diverse.

It's a 40 minute drive from where I am to some cool state parks in the mountains, we've got a huge amount of wildlife, and we're a swing state.

Lot's of farming in the East of the state though.

Lancaster is nice. I live in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton area. It's where souls go to die. never come here.

Not to mention Colorado has legal marijuana, and some of the most microbreweries in the nation.

Seems pretty comfy desu.
But the layout of Denver is quite horrible, the squareness of it, although that's probably quite common in the USA.

When I google wildlife I saw a picture of snakes.
Do you have snakes?
What about wolves? Coyotes? Any big cats?
>>
Wyoming seems pretty comfy. Only like 400,000 people there.

Western Oregon/Western Washington.
Very rarely snows, always cloudy and rainy, and god-tier forest scenery.
Weather is top tier during summer, fall, winter, and spring.

Southern California was 90F this year and it was a huge event. In fact a lot of buildings here don't have AC because they never needed them until recently. Average here is like 70 - low 80f.

Really late reply but yeah, we've got rattlesnakes, and a bunch of little ones like garter snakes. The aren't really wolves in Colorado anymore, at least not in large numbers, but we do have a shit ton of coyotes.

And yes, we do have Cougars in the mountains, lynx's too, but they're pretty rare.

They're the largest minority in the state and they can be annoying at times, but for the most part the bad "kick out the Euros reclaim the lands" types stay in the reservations.
For the most part they're really nice people, minus the occasional crazy.
I suppose I worded that wrong.

This. Rich, white, educated, skiing, no large cities, only small ones and old historic towns. Literally best state.

Good economy and you can find a job as long as your willing to put effort.
