Hello /int/
Don't really post here so don't know if this is the right board to ask but /trav/ is quite slow.
I'll be arriving in Reykjavik in 3 days and long story short I will not be able to access funds until a week into my stay so I will have to live off a a few hundred I had saved for spending cash till then.
Mostly want to know if any Icelanders can suggest to me the best things to buy at the super market for cost, as I plan on making my own food in hostels instead of eating out. Otherwise I'm looking at just bringing a bunch of peanut butter and buying bread while I'm there.
Anything helps thanks!
I should add that I have tried searching this on my own but only got general ideas of cost per day, I'm trying to find out prices of simple groceries like bread, eggs, meats.

A list of supermarkets in Reykjavik, but it's in Danish.
Picked out on for you, since it has an online special offer catalog.

jelly. Just got back from Sweden last week and I had to do a similar thing (live off of peanut butter) in Stockholm. I was in Sweden for 3 months and to be honest I miss it already.

Been once before but only for a week, jealous of your travels as well. Hopefully you will return to where you long to be soon like I am!
First thing first don't buy anything if it's not from cheap-ass Bonus.
I don't think you'll have access to a freezer at your hotel but you can get frozen vegetables for the equivalent of 1,20€/500gr, which is cheap in this country. You can also get fresh vegetables but it might prove to be twice if not thrice the price.
Don't even think about getting meat. It's expensive as fuck. You can always get some eggs or sausages if you need your proteins. You can try some fish but I'd recommend you to buy it to fish shop for best quality/price.
Other than that, pasta and rice are about 1,80€/500gr.
Other than that, everything is expensive.
