It would increase the bargaining power of the remaining labor class (you know, actual Americans), raise wages, reduce precarity, and thus in sum increase the velocity of money. State and federal government are both happy to see velocity of money not be fucking sub-Great Depression levels (seriously, go look) because they get to collect more duties taxes on alcohol/cigarettes/etc. and claim land taxes because people would actually be able to afford homes instead of being perennial renters.
