Could anyone, particularly italians show me a picture of a modern italian person's face that resembles this roman statue?
To me that face strikes me as distinctly german, even as opposed to say dutch or scandinavian. Thats the closest resemblance to a modern nationality, although I'll admit its not a perfect resemblance. It's a statue of a runner's face and as far as I know it's not meant to be a germanic person.
Why don't modern italians look like this or most of the roman statues and busts. What ethnic replacement took place? I didn't think the moors were in italy, and the turks were only in greece

If they pursued perfection over realism why does that face look so realistic to the point where it resembles a real life ethnicity in the fine details? Egyptians pursued perfectionism over realism and the faces of their statues look very stylised, almost cartoonish and not like real people.

I think that ancient germans looked more like scandinavians and dutch in those days, and romans looked less mediterranean then modern italians and more like central / east germans. The german phenotype today is more a result of roman and germanic blood merging, and the modern italian more a result of middle eastern blood.
