Serious answer, the South didn't earn democracy with the blood of their youths, as we didn't have a Resistance movement and were liberated by the Allies. So, quite a few people from Southern Italy wanted fascism back, they just felt that they lived better back then and didn't care for democracy n shiet. Keep in mind that this is a map from 1972, a fuckload of time passed and people got more educated over time. Far-right tendencies pretty much disappeared until the 2008 crisis, and even then, hardcore fascists still have a marginal presence, compared to, say, Golden Dawn in Greece; the biggest far-right movement, Lega Nord, isn't really fascist, just xenophobe. Ironically, it gets most of its consent in the North.
