But I learned in a military history course that modern banking was a main reason for Dutch success in the Dutch Revolt. They could borrow at a few percent rate, whereas the fucking King of Spain had to borrow at 20% (a loan shark rate). So banking is a huge deal

I played a lot of civ V with 2 of my friends.
