There have always weirdos and social outcasts, but in they past they usually just died or secluded themselves or become useful or rich enough for people to tolerate their existence. Also, a lot of people don't enjoy being around other people, but at the same time not being around people makes them lonely, so 4chan is a nice halfway house for social inclusion. Those are two distinct groups of people, but they tend to overlap a lot.
I disagree about the "hardline right-wing politics" though, I think it's a bit of an over-simplification. 4chan's always been just been kinda contrarian and goes against the grain. A lot of left-leaning opinions are popular here too (like the legalisation of marijuana).
I am not anti-social. I just only know how to be social like a high school/college aged kid. Adulthood changed everything and I don't know how to be a friendly adult. I'm in limbo
