For your good junk food type dishes, try takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and the like.
For your common fare, try oden, different types of nabe cooking (including motsunabe), and dishes like oyakodon (or any donburi cooking)
For higher class stuff, have a seasonal kaiseki meal, which has a variety of foods to eat.

Basically theres like 1000 pizza kebabs here already with greek/thai/chinese/indian stuff on the side but not that many japanese stuff. Only seen like 1 sushi bar or some shit.

I have never tasted genuine Chinese food and I live in a country with a quarter of the population are Chinamen
It's either Chinese takeout or gutter oil-tier
Meanwhile I've tasted all kinds of Jap dishes and the ones made by Japs taste better than the ones manned by Chinks, Koreans, Flips, whiteys, etc.
I even got conned into eating at すきやばし次郎 (twice in Ginza and one in Roppongi) but the sushi there was the best but was pretty expensive it's not really worth it

The only way i can tell if there's a difference is by having a plate of food made by an authentic chinese or japanese chef.

Chinese food in the US is super americanized and is barely chinese. Japanese food is americanized, but not nearly as much, and is pretty damn good
