20 for possession and purchase of 23–80% ABV
18 for all in bars, clubs and restaurants[74]

>>52220542
that's for hard liquor
>>
>>52220542

We actually went over the border to Finland when we were 18 because you could buy beer and stronger stuff (up to 20% I think) under the age off 20.
>>
>>52220591

this results in some barely consumeable 20% mixed drinks that are marketed for kids, usually they taste like dish washer
>>
America, Land of Freedom. Where you can get thrown in jail for soliticing a prostitute.
>>
>>52220658
I know sima has some alcohol in it, can you actually get drunk if you drink enough of it? I've had it a few times though, it's delicious imho
>>
>>52220502
Because we get our drivers licence's way earlier than europoors. Which is much more important than being able to drink.
>>
>>52220687
this

and you're also not apparently allowed to drink in public thus the brown bags

our teenagers tend to use mopeds (the boys use dirt bike mopeds)

I don't think the license is cheap anymore but when I took it all it cost me was what $30 and I had to take a quiz with 20 questions
>>
>>52220753
tbf driving at 16 is sick as fuck
>>
>>52220755

Yeah, fucking alcoholmonopoly.

At least in Sweden.
>>
>>52220703
you would really ahve to drink a lot of it, but if you let it sit in a warm room for a while it gets breddy strong :D

how old do you have to be for a moped in suomi?

The selling and advertising laws are fucked.

But at least we get to drink our overtaxed and over-regulated alcohol in peace.
>>
>>52220804
Yeah I wish I could have done that.

Thing is noone follows it and everyone starts drinking from 14-16 for the most part

Denmark has no limit on drinking age, and you can buy anything under 16.5% when you're 16, over 16.5% when you're 18

Finland already answered ITT

Norway has no age limit on drinking, but you need to be 18 to purchase it if it's under 22%, and 2-0 if it's over

Sweden has no age limit on drinking

But Sweden and Norway has ridiculous purchasing rules as in when and where you can buy it, but it's in no way worse than American laws.
>>
here it's 16 for drinking in bars and 18 to bring them
>>
>>52220926
Our old laws to get the license were stupid but ebin :D
>>
>>52220964

We do have age limit on drinking, 18 in bars and 20 to buy at "Systembolaget" (the gov controlled alcohol monopoly.)
>>
>>52220951
going to school, hanging out with friends etc etc. there was essentially no public transportation in my town.

it just really makes a lot of sense why we would start driving at 16.
>>
>>52220964
The most fucked up laws are on the county level though, not national like it is here.

15 years old, and you can also choose to take a test for these small plastic cars which go maximum 30mph so they're only useful for small distances.

Those things are cancerous.

t. car owner in Helsinki
>>
>>52221000
yea, if you look at a county map it gets really skewed cause you see these big dry counties in the south but in reality there's only like 10,000 people living there

aside from the age limit there's no real hangups about our alcohol laws nationwide
>>
>>52220542
Finland isn't land of freedom anyway. A shitty nanny state when it comes to alcohol. Can't buy beer after 9pm or before 9am. Adult people should be able to make their decisions.
>>
>>52220502
You can buy it at 16 here
>>
>>52221013
>>52221059
everyone hates these

it's common to see pictures of them having been pushed over
>>
>>52220994
That's only in public though, as far as I know. Legally, you're allowed to drink in private as long as you're "supervised". Americvcks don't have the freedom to even do that.
>>
>>52221013
>which go maximum 30mph
this seems more dangerous than driving a regular car

>Americvcks don't have the freedom to even do that
it was funny seeing the exchange students at my HS be surprised when we all went out and drank on the weekends
>>
>>52221101
In the state of Wisconsin you can drink in public whilst underage with the permission and supervision of your guardian/parent. The first time I drank at a bar was when I was 15. That being said Wisconsin does have the most lax drinking laws and constantly fights congress to lower the state's drinking age to 18.
>>
>>52221155
>it was funny seeing the exchange students at my HS be surprised when we all went out and drank on the weekends
is it really that surprisin that teenagers break the law?
>>
>>52221155
But it's still restricted by law. You literally do not have the legal freedom to do that. If you have to break the law to have the same freedom every other civilized country has, I wouldn't be proud of that.
>>
>>52221191
If i'm not mistaken, drinking age is a state law that every state enforces so they don't lost tons of highway funding from big daddy

21 is way too fucking high. Kids are getting hammered as early as 12 around here. Might as well big the age down to 18 (atleast).
I like going to bars to meet people, but I'm only 20 so there's no fucking point. I'm old enough to travel across the world to kill muslims but I can't drink a pint of Guinness.
>>
>>52221132
DUDE WEED LMAO
>>
>>52221227
it shouldnt be but people have weird perceptions about us, like this french exchange student told me in his first week that he thought we were all gonna be fat and super religious
>>
>>52221101

this is true and most Swedes don't even know about it lel

you can legally drink beer with your dad while watching football/hockey
>>
>>52221277
you realize you're doing the same thing right now right?
>>
>>52221248
Precisely. The only reason it's not 18 is because the 3 biggest cities in Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Madison, and LaCrosse) are all 75+ miles apart, so highway maintenance is a must. If the state was smaller like Vermont or New Hampshire the drinking age would definitely be 18.
>>
>>52221236
im not talking about being proud of it, why are you putting words in my mouth? and why do you care so much?

half of our country has way more liberal weed laws than 90% of europe but im not gonna make fun of other countries for it.
>>
>My 18th Birthday in God's country the STATES
>Fuck yeah I can already drive a car
>Now I can buy a gun and shoot people
>But also when I shoot them I might get executed booo
>Now I can fight for freedom and die overseas for my oligarchy
>Now I can vote for TrUMP CAN'T BE StUMPED lmao
>Now I can get married to ma couin w00t
>Now I can permanently brand my bdy with tattoos and shit
But
>Still 3 years before I can drink a beer

And statesians have the cheek to call Aus a nanny state.
>>
>>52221300
i dont think so, i didnt say everyone does or say that every euro does it. but it does happen, you can't really deny it.
>>
>>52221300
People contradict themselves all the time with little to no mental anguish.

I suggest you just ignore it and move on as trying to change the attitudes and beliefs of people is hard and, most of the time, not worth the effort
>>
>America "land of the free"

Only have 2 political parties who are owned by the same banks and arms dealers
>>
>>52220753
Unless you have a hardship license or work on a farm, most people become eligible to work at age 16. It makes sense to learn to drive at that age so you can get to work by car if need be.
>>
>>52220964

I don't see anything ridiculous in buying from liquor stores at 20, the whole point is to limit youth alcoholism.

18 year-olds with guns and easy access to alcohol sounds like a bad mix desu
>>
>>52222122
it's pretty easy access, i just made friends with a indian store owner and bought from him since i was 15. didnt kno anyone with a gun either, i dont think most people own their own guns until they live on their own.

It's due to puritans. Most people don't agree with those laws but who cares, they are not enforced anyway.

>>52221101
>Americvcks don't have the freedom to even do that.
It depends on the state you fucking retard. They have a thing called federalism, which you probably don't know since you live in a big government nanny state.
>>
>>52222299
>It's due to puritans
actually it isn't, it's because of a organization called MADD that lobbied for a higher drinking age.

my parents grew up with an 18 drinking age in their state.

well seeing 18-23 years old people in bars and clubs i think you should put it to 25 or something.
>>
>>52221950
If your vehicle has rural or farm tags, like in a pickup truck, some states allow 13 or 14 year olds to drive it to school and back. Usually only if no bus service is available in your rural community.

Most places allow a permit at 15, laws very but the general udea is that there must be a licensed driver over 21 in the car, some states won't allow any other passengers either

At 16 you get a license, again, laws vary as to times and places you can drive and how many passengers you can have

17-21 depending on the state you get a full, unrestricted license

At 25 auto insurance goes way down since mist traffic accidents occur with drivers under 25.
>>
>>52226040
This is very true, especially among Americans for some reason.
I lived in Canada on a border town for a few years, the 19 and 20 year olds from America would walk over the border to visit our pubs. They always acted like assholes, usually getting into fights, getting kicked out, bothering girls, etc., but it seemed that as soon as they turned 21+ and came over, something clicked in their brains and they became normal acting drinkers.
>>
>>52226450
savages
>>
>>52226333
It is common, but not legal, for people who live in rural towns to learn how to drive with their parents when they are 12-13 here. And depending on the place, they even start regularly driving around town by the time they are 15 or so.
>>
>>52226450
It's all the beaner and nigger blood in their veins.

Makes them behave like animals.
>>
>>52227451
Same here, I lived in a very rural part of Colorado, at 14 and 15 all we really did was drive jerps and trucks offroading, smashing mailboxes, and sometimes drive into town and cruise up and down the main street.
>>
>>52227574
I'd agree with you, but this was on the Maine border, which, at like 95% non-Hispanic white, is the whitest and safest state in America. Been all white for centuries.
These were just rowdy "underage" rednecks Tbh
