First time in modern history, a middle eastern country that was to receive democracy and progressiveness by removing a dictator that rules it with all its religious groups, a country that did not have ties to Israel, managed to survive and change the plan of USA thanks to Russia.
Few years ago, US air force and NATO were to bomb the shit out of Assad and his troops.
Putin stopped it, and in return he got a mess in Ukraine to keep him busy.
Not knowing what the fuck to do, the west allowed ISIS to become a reality, while making an economic and propaganda war with the Russians who managed to get the best out of the situation and that is annexing, democratically taking, invading, whatever the fuck you want to call it, taking Crimea and it is the reason why oil is cheap along with the Ruble. The eastern ukrainian rebels were to be sacrificed but a lot of russians kept them afloat and Ukraine is a frozen conflict zone now, and it cant enter EU or NATO.
Now Russians are back in the Syrian game, but this time they started to bomb the shit out of the enemies of the Syrian government.
Its a game changer and it wasnt expected by the west.
What happens next is anyone's guess.
1. a dictator about to be killed like Gadaffi is still alive and his troops are making gains while protected by the russian airforce.
2. shits about to pop with turks because they dont know what they are doing anymore and its border with syria cant be crossed anymore by their troops, convoys or air forces (but they got a russian pilot killed so its equivalent to winning a war against russia, in their mind)
3. europe is fucked because of refugees and terror attacks
4. america is watching tv and following tweets as usual
Things got very interesting very fast and the entire situation is unpredictable.

Turkey is really flexing it's muscles and testing it's luck.
They're stirring trouble with Russia, they're stirring trouble with Kurds and the Iraqi government which are both US allies.
Turkey is causing way too much trouble and i don't expect NATO to support them since they're clearly trying to make the most out of the situation and kill a bunch of Kurds, maybe steal land, get money from cheap oil and of course enhance their regional power projection.
