Global warming is highly exaggerated. This is normal behaviour, a climate isn't stable over the years, just look at temperature charts the last 150 years and more still. These things fluctuate often.

In the 13th century wine was commonly made in Belgium (barely possible nowadays), my 14th century ancestor was a grapevine farmer in Mons.

While in the 16/17th century it was so cold they had to wear these big things around their neck the Spaniards of those days are often portrayed with.

In the 1950s there was full industrialisation and unlimited polution, yet winters were bitterly cold, the Channel/North Sea partly froze every year.

You are all buying the hysteria. Next step is believing that carbon taxes are necessary.

>>52181316
>because there was pollution in the 1950s we'll all be fine
Nigger you can't be this dumb. It takes time for the full effects to be felt. Also the fact that the climate has been changing forever does not mean we'll all be fine and don't need to change anything. It means the opposite, our society was not built for a changing climate and we do need to adapt for the future regardless of what's causing it. Oil and shit won't last forever. Our water supplies need to be protected. Polluting is just bad for our health regardless. Etc etc.

>>52181924
Again, climate has been changing forever.

Also, even if you regulate everything perfectly, the oil will run out anyway, especially since we are burning them for transport while oil is also our only cheap source of organic chemicals. So everything will because very expensive without oil, also plastics, medicines, too much to name really ; next to a massive overpopulation already taking place. Climate change laws or not the disaster is at the horizon, and generally unrelated with CO2 emission if people do not stop using gasoline, kerosine immediately.

Myself I couldn't care less, this world is a place of pain and suffering no matter how you look at it, and it would be better if it didn't exist at all. But people who put children in this place might consider the problems at hand. Maybe Allah will help out, right?

>>
>>52182530
Are you dense? That was what I said in the first place.? And I mentioned it was even warmer here in the Middle Ages compared to now.

You called me dumb, are continue with saying exactly what I said, but that we should change things. Exactly what things? I have papers from the early 1970s saying *exactly ther same thing*. Even if we stop using oil for fuel right now, the oil supplies will run out in a couple of centuries. So I don't think CO2 tax, trading CO2 stocks, Canadian-air-in-a-can or blaming smokers for carbon emission will help one bit. Correct me if I'm wrong pls.

My thought exactly. Last year electricity price rose 40%, and just recently our government decided that electricity should be taxed as a luxury item, so the tax was raised from 6%/12% to 21% !!

I remember our prime minister smiling when Al Gore's film came out, an excellent opportunity for him to push CO2 tax.

Also, we and other countries constantly "buy" clean air from Russia which brings the CO2 levels down to required level. This is considered normal even by the Greens as it was their minister who started it here. "Everybody else does it" was her straight-faced answer.
>>
>>52183863
You obviously didn't read what I wrote and just want to make a hysterical fuss and call me names.

Didn't I refer to the makes that wine was produced in Belgium during the Middle Ages, which is today barely possible?

Instead of calling me names, perhaps offer your view on exactly how we need to adapt today. Because the only real solution is to stop burning oil for transport, and to curb overpopulation. Not flushing you toilet more than once a day or not bathing (like the king of Sweden recently proposed) is like trying to mop a floor with the tap open. Show us how smart and progressive you are and how dumb and backwards I am.

You can't deduce things from single winters though, because the year-to-year variation is much stronger than the worst apocalyptic Club of Rome predictions. You don't really feel a difference between +10°C and +10.1°C after 3 years or so in which this amount of average warming is predicted
We can only see changes thanks to long-term (decades) instrumental record

What is total fucking garbage though is the idea that this particular winter means "global warming". Global warming believers claim everything is proof of global warming. Cold winter? Global warming. Normal winter? Global warming. Warm winter? Global warming. YAWN.

Fact is some winters are warm, some winters are cold. Same as always. Get over it. I am sure 500 years ago people freaked out over the weather just the same.

But you said this has jack shit to do with climate change/global warming. Yes, the have always been colder and warmer winters, but this specific winter and the ones before it would not be the same if climate changing/global warming wasn't happening. From the very beginning, climate scientists (not politicians and activists like Al Gore...) have been predicting extreme weather patterns, not just warming.
>>
>>52189144

Personally I love cold weather. Just a few years ago it was one of the snowiest winters we ever have. Global warming retards were like "all this snow is proof of global warming!!". Now there's not much snow and "proof of global warming!!" If it were average levels it would still be proof of global warming.

Who even cares at this point.
>>
>>52188820
>we're coming out of an ice age i won't deny that will you cuck?

I have a buckload of popular science magazines of the 1970s and 1980s, Nat. Geo. and the like, and there was a constant hysteria about the coming Ice Age. Apparently we were on the brink of a new Ice Age "experts" said (with added graphs and data they used to corroberate and extrapolate their finding).

Every cold winter during that era caused the media and the people to present it as "proof".

Fluctuations, long periods of warmth and long periods of cold, are actually very normal. Again, just look at the data over centuries.

I am not denying that there is a global warming. But when we see that the same global warming is happening on Mars and Venus right now, I don't think human behavior is the direct cause of it.

It does have jack shit to do with global warming. There always has been warmer winters. There has always been colder winters. If they are dead then they won't care either way. They'll be dead.

That said, the end of the world has been predicted for thousands and thousands of years now and humanity has always managed to survive. Chances are our children will be freaking out about some other mundane aspect of human existence. I call it "leaf greening". Sometimes leafs are brown, sometimes they are green, sometimes they are yellow. All of these are caused by "leaf greening" which predicts more extreme changes in the leaves, or maybe just regular changes of the leaves depending on the year. If leaves continue to change color all the trees will eventually die because they cannot photosynthesize.

Nah, even if we assume it was 1°C colder pre-industrial (say 1850) and subtract that, then this winter (so far mind you, it's only mid Decmeber!) would still be very warm
>>
>>52189923
This, alarm bells only ring when it's a warm period. overall the year has been pretty average though, with some months warmer and some colder than usual.
No one said anything about May being colder than average for the third time in a row now

But that one degree average is not evenly distributed. Given that some parts are even cooling (short term at least) it means the parts that are warming are warming by more than just one degree.

Do Europeans know how it works?

Some winters are warm, some winters are cold. That is all there is to it. Wow!

Pretty normal. Last year we got virtually no snow on the mountains. It usually just rains in Portland anyway during the winter. The only weird thing is the amount of rain. Making up for last year I guess

'climate change' is what obama says when he says he's going to ban oil and go back to the stone age. you're either being misleading or being misled.
>>
haven't had a real winter since snowmageddon smfh
>>
Its been the warmest december ever recorded for where I live, by a wide margin

but last year was bonkers, i can honsetly say there isnt much of a trend here as far as december temperatures go

Thats not to say I don't "believe" in global warming. I'm an agricultural scientist for christs sake. But average december temperatures in this part of upstate NY are not a sign supporting or denying climate change, theres plenty of other more reliable data for that

You dumb dumb dumb dumb duuuuuumb nigger. Fossil fuels took hundreds of millions of years to form, we are using them up in a couple hundred years. That is not sustainable. It is better to wean ourselves off of it than it is to pretend climate change is some liberal conspiracy and then go back into the stone age when the oil runs out and we did jack shit to prepare for it.
>>
>>52188644
>We can only see changes thanks to long-term (decades) instrumental record

Well iirc yearly recording goes back to around 1850, but we can get older data by using scientific method (from geology mainly, also botany).

This field of study is called paleoclimatology and we know that in the Medieval Warm Period (800-1400 AD), the climate was warmer than today, which was followed by a Little Ice Age that lasted to around 1900.

With the current level of usage (assuming that the Arabs don't lie about their figures and don't pretend they have a lot more left than they do):

>natural gas reserves will run out in 50 years
>oil reserves will be depleted in 60 years
(if no new reserves of both are found)

The world could still have oil reserves that would fill 800 million barrels, with about half of that in the Middle East. Because we use oil to manufacture many materials, including plastics, we use oil at a much faster rate than either natural gas or coal.

Personally I think it will come to a point where for example Saudi Arabia will be able to say: convert to islam or no more oil for you. This probably also explains the cuck-behaviour of the West towards islam today, they know the Arabs have them by the balls, and they know what is coming.

Again, this is the real problem - not CO2 emissions. Burning oil, precursor for today's living conditions in general, for fuel.
>>

>Again, this is the real problem - not CO2 emissions. Burning oil, precursor for today's living conditions in general, for fuel.
So let's assume the greenhouse effect isn't real for the sake of the argument. Regulating CO2 emissions is still an effective way of encouraging research and development and deployment of non fossil fuel based technology/energy.

Again, with a massive population growth as today it is mopping the floor with the faucet running.

There is your real problem. And they all want the same living standards as in the West.

No amount of reduced emissions or barely flushing toilets is going to curb that.

>Again, with a massive population growth as today it is mopping the floor with the faucet running.
Which is why we need the government to act and depending on people just flushing the toilet less doesn't help much. We need to make the farm that grows the cotton for our clothes be more efficient with water or find a new, more sustainable material to make our clothes out of. I don't get why you seemed so opposed to government action in your earlier posts when they're the ones who can subsidize the r&d and regulate industries and stuff.

For the record I'm not in the group of outright deniers (sort of religious equivalent would be "atheist"), but rather scepticists (i.e. "agnostic"), because I see the proofs of the long causality chain to be overall not sufficient
That chain goes (very simplified): Human fossil fuel consumption raises up CO2 levels significantly -> this is enough to raise temperature by x degrees, and not other factors -> this cannot be handled/buffered by ecosystems -> this is a bad thing -> we need to fall into blind actionism -> we need to increase taxes left and right to """fix""" it
So for example we have 6 steps here, and even if each of them have an 80% probability to be true, this still makes the overall 0.8^6= 26%
So meh, I'm not fully convinced of either "camp", more research has to happen and it has to be ensured that lobby groups like solar panel manufacturers don't get to influence scientists
Having said that, I know about earth history periods where the atmosphere held up to 20% CO2, and now we are talking about an increase from 0.03 to 0.04%. Still, fluctuations like that used to happen over millions of years, so there MAY be the possibility that the current pace is to fast for ecosystems to adapt, or maybe not - we don't know
Still, taxing the shit out of everything left and right here in Europe can't be the solution as long as China etc don't play along, all this will do is reduce both our competitiveness and living standards to no avail, while benefiting a few
