Why isn't it called East Korea?
>>52151500
Because it's inhabited by the Japanese, not Koreans?
Japan > Korea any day of the week

The word root of "Japan" is 日本. It has been used since 7th century.
The word root of "Korea" is 高麗 Goryeo. The dynasty was in 10-14th centuries.
Because it's not located on the Korean peninsula

In the 7th century, there were 3 kingdoms in the Korean Peninsula.
They were not an unified nation.

Well actually Gogoryeo existed since the 1st century BCE and referred to itself as simply 'Goryeo' and the name 'Gogoryeo' was created in the 12th century by the later Goryeo dynasty historians to differentiate old Goryeo from new Goryeo.
>>52153223
>Goryeo
>Gogoryeo
>>52153690
'Go-' is a prefix that literally just means 'old'.
For example Gojoseon is the oldest recorded state on the Korean peninsula. When it's first mentioned by Chinese historians in 700BCE it's simply referred to as Joseon, meaning fresh morning land. But in Korean history it is recorded as Go-joseon to differentiate it from the later Joseon Kingdom.

Japan helped 百済 Paekche.
However Gogoryeo and Goryeo were not related with Japan.

高句麗 Gogoryeo was ruined. They were Tungusic peoples.
Their territory was in the north-east of China and Korean Peninsula.
So it's hard to say Gogoryeo is Korea. In fact, China thinks Gogoryeo is a part of Chinese history.

So? Chinese also think Genghis Khan and Ryukyu are Chinese.
Also, Goguryeo people were Samhan (Korean) ethnicity which they engraved on their tombs even in China just like Baekje and Silla residents. You really ought to update your information instead of relying on outdated 1980's studies.
Okay, Wa (dwarf) person?

thread of Korean's inferiority complex again.

Koreans are Tungusic people. There was no real 'Korean' identity until the later Goryeo dynasty which first united the entire peninsula. The later Goryeo dynasty was initially a mutli-ethnic dynasty made up of remnants from the Gogoryeo, Silla, and Baekje kingdoms that overthrew the later Silla dynasty.

So Koreans are actually T*rks?
>>52158300
they could be turkic, if you consider siberians turkic, manchu and korean are closely related
>>52151500
Because the Japanese love to deny the fact they are Koreans
65-75% shared Y-Hapogroup DNA
75-85% shared mtDNA

(140-160%) / 2
=70-80% Korean genes
North Korea == BEST KOREA

There's also evidence a bunch of Southern "Chinese" people (from the Yangtze delta and Shanghai) came to Korea and Japan before they were taken over by the Baekje-Puyo refugees
>>52158300
Yes and no. Proto-Koreans were nomads who traveled from Eurasia to the Korean peninsula. But the in ancient times the Chinese colonized parts of Korea. Even the earliest sense of Korean identity however was centuries upon centuries after Chinese colonists and Eurasian nomads had coexisted and developed distinct polities from traditional Chinese states and dynasties.
The original inhabitants in Honshu and people from the continent got mixed up and this is the origin of Japanese. So we're quite similar. Q.E.D.

Koreans are definitely not Tungusic. Tungusic peoples are mostly Northern Asian. Northern Asian is different from East Asian, which is different from SE Asian
Northern Asian { Mongols, Buriats, Yakut, Tungusic (the reindeer herding type)
East Asian { Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Manchus
Southeast Asian { Vietnamese, Thai, Malays, Filipinos
In matter of fact. The Manchus were more influenced by Koreans, not the other way around. Koreans are heavily mixed with peoples from Southern China and the Central Plains, but originally started off as para-proto Mongolic or Tungusic speakers (it might be the other way around. archeologists/anthropologists/ linguists don't know)

there is no evidence. what your saying was just conjecture from scholars in the 70s, when new historical and archeological data was just being discovered and put together
we actually don't know anything from that period. just general movement of people. we know that a southern people moved into korea. then these mixes then moved onto japan or stayed in korea to become the koreans who were later taken over by a more northern orientated group

>a country, being a vassal of china, that couldn't have existed independently without japan hope japan was part of it
that's an ironic logic you've got there.

BAKA DESU CHONPAI
Why doesn't grorious Nippon annex Korea, southern Jilin and Liaoning, the Russian Kuril islands, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, then call itself the "Kaiyo Federation".
Then through social engineering and propaganda, make Koreans and other minorities in the federation have few kids while the Nipponjin have very many offspring so the minorities are genocided out of existence.
And then the land of the rising sun can survive the economic collapse of the western world, annex balkanized China, eastern Russia and much of the Pacific...
who are koreans then?
CHINESE
Koreans and Japanese are CHINESE
