You get ALG1 (Unemployment Aid 1) after you loose your job, it's like 80% of your previous income and last for half a year or something like that.
After that you get ALG2 or Hartz 4, what is around 400€ per month. Hartz 4 can be lowered or cut if you don't apply for jobs regulary.
