I always wondered about how shields in star trek or star wars work
something about them just makes it seem so weird
>>52108448
I would kill your hybrid child desu
>>52108448
Do you think the aliens that put our species on earth will ever come back for us? do you think they are extinct? do you think humans are the most advanced beings in this entire universe?
>>52108460
Sci-fi shields are lazy writing desu
>>52108460
they absorb the kinetik impact of the phasers and transform them into heat which dissipates around the shields
>>52108512
they can also shield from gravitational radiological, chemical and biological, sometimes they can shield from ghots too
Real space battle: sitting millions of kilometers away trying to gouge the other ship's trajectory with your fuck you rail beam
>you will never see the intergalactic rap battle, battle of all battles
>>52108376
i wish i could get into this game desu
>>52108479
I believe it's going to play out like in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUtjeVL58yY
Humanity is fucked but our descendants might survive.
>>52108495
Lazy, but also kinda necessary. There has to be some reckless manner with which they can deal with all the debris and general shit in space.
>>52108677
you can't play alone in eve, it gets boring fast
>>52108677
It's basically just sitting on TS with a hundreds of autists while some neckbeard yells at you.
Then you click things and press a button from time to time.
Small gang and solo faggotry is fun tho

>>52108740
I just got the game what skills should i train to be good at pvp im amarr what should i do for money i know nothing!!! what should my first month of gameplay consist of? thanks!
>>52108886
pvp build always rely on jamming if you are solo
solo pvp will not be the first thing you do, you will farm money for 2 years then you can solo pvp
>>52108740
is there a 4chan corp?
>>52108376
I've seen several you tit.
And it's a good thing too because interstellar warfare in the future will likely be boring as fuck to watch.
>>52108925
i think not
if you play alone you can get up to level 4 solo and get the strategic cruisers and keep doing the solo missions, its kind of fun but there is no variety in pvp, just rooms, dps, and rooms
everything else is capped to corp pretty fast
>>52109097
no variety in pve**
>>52108886
Join an active PVP corp once you've got the controls down, any decent corp will hand out free ships to newbies.
Check their killboards to see if they're active in your time zone.
As a newbie Factional Warfare (in a corp, not solo) might be fun, it limits ship sizes, the engagements are usually smaller and there's ways to make isk.
Another low commitment option is Red vs Blue, they accept anyone and are locked into perpetual warfare in Empire space.
There's also various feeder and training corps of large alliances that take in raw newbies, if you want to see large scale fleet battles ASAP that's your best option.
>>52108923
doing it wrong
>>52108925
there used to be, they were huge faggots tho. try asking in the eve general
I was in B-R5RB and space battles are actually boring and laggy and there was this one faggot who kept spaming top disgusting tranny porn in the fleet chat. I mean who the fuck faps to trannies who look like the Gachimuchi Crew?

There are no aircraft carrier or battleship or jet battles NOW. What makes you think they'll do it in the future? You know how fucking expensive a stellar battlecruiser would be? No one would anyone risk using it. They'll just be used to bomb Third World colonies like they do now on earth.
>>52108453

>>52108376
Space Wars in real life would be incredibly uneventful
It wouldn't be like ships firing upon each other like you see in movies or games
It would be ships firing at each other from literally hundreds of kilometers away, you wouldn't see the enemy and they wouldn't see you
Conventional weapons don't work in space because there is no atmosphere
Lasers will unlikely ever be powerful enough to work at the effective range in which space battles would take place and even they did Lasers move at the speed of light and are invisible. You wouldn't see shit.
Nukes work in space but Nukes would likely be banned like they are nowadays
Space battles would consist of people firing railguns at each other. You'd have people tracking the enemy ships and calculating where they're going to be, and have to fire your railgun at their projected position just like they have to do in naval warfare before tracking became a thing, but unlike pre-tracking naval warfare, space ships can move in a 3D plane and wouldn't have as much trouble turning directions.
If ships were firing at each other from 500 kilometres away, and they had railguns firing at 50,000Kmp/h (Pretty reasonalbe considering railguns can do like 9000Kmp/h nowadays and there is no air resistance in space) It would take 36 seconds for your round to hit the target, and we're talking about targets that aren't that big, and would also be moving incredibly fast.
>>52112871
but vision is almost instant, if they know the gun fired they have those 30 seconds to move
>>52112871

>>52112871
You have literally no idea how rockets, shaped charges, smokeless powder, or railguns work. If I were you, I would stop posting. Also, nukes work much worse in space than they do in atmosphere. In space, there is no atmosphere to carry the destructive shockwave. Most of the damage would be caused by heat or ionizing radiation.
>>52108376
even reading about that war in EVE was amazing
>>52112915
>>52112991
>>52113061
I worded it badly
Of course conventional weapons work in space, their destructive power is just severely limited by the lack of atmosphere
>>52113061
>Also, nukes work much worse in space than they do in atmosphere. In space, there is no atmosphere to carry the destructive shockwave.
Just like conventional explosives
>Most of the damage would be caused by heat or ionizing radiation.
Exactly, Nukes could still melt the hull of a ship and kill everybody on board.
>>52113116
Bullets and other projectiles would be significantly more powerful in space
>you will never get dubs
>>52113171
Which Is why they would use Railguns, like I said
I wasn't talking about guns you thick American fuck I was talking about missiles
>>52113190
never ever
>>52113078
the chance for a corp to lose their space sector was kind of cool
>>52113196
Getting this triggered someone was talking about a gun. Classic australkek
>>52113196
you can still use missiles in close proximity in space
since there is no air to slow them down they are viable, just fire like hundreds of them at once
but star wars is coming out this year
>>52113196
A bullet travels using the same principles as a missile
guys it's a little bit early to be discussing the relative effectiveness of space weapons 2bh lol
>>52113294
The impact of a bullet is what inflicts the damage
The impact of a missile is not what inflicts the damage
>>52113315
But, anon a bullet IS a missile
>>52113116
>conventional explosives
Do you honestly think that the destructive power of anti-vehicle explosive devices comes from the shock wave? I'll give you a hint, it does not. Most anti-vehicular missiles use a shaped charge warhead, which focuses a stream of hypersonic copper or other metal. You could also use a blast-fragmentation warhead, which would cause damage via the spreading of shrapnel.
>nukes would just be used willy nilly in the same configuration as on earth
The best use of a nuke in space would be either as a casaba howitzer, or as a way to create an x-ray laser.
>railguns
If you want a railgun projectile to be accurate at long ranges then you will need to put some kind of RCS on it, since you cannot use aerodynamic guidance in space. That means that you will not have the same cost effectiveness per round that you would have for a railgun in atmosphere. Because of this, it would be much more logical to simply use a massive amount of VLS-like launch cells for guided hypersonic missiles.
>>52113456
*can also use, which causes
>>52113315
>I know literally nothing about modern anti-ship missiles
>>52113267
>since there is no air to slow them down they are viable, just fire like hundreds of them at once
mfw the Itano Circus is plausible
>>52113315
Missiles explode on impact, the explosion won't send shockwaves through vacuum, but it would send shockwaves through the ship hull and inner pressurization.
you can actually mix it up and fire a missile (with an rcs) in a rail tube in space
>>52108376
what if the superpowers are already in space?
what if its like in Bladerunner and there are already attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion?
what if we are left behind on this planet to tear eachother apart and become cheap workforce?
>>52113690
then we deserve it
which was kind of the point of the movie
I think we drove the Autistralian back to reddit
>>52113729
No i went to have a shower
I concede i'm not omniscient about space warfare

What is advanced weapon upgrades do you have to buy it or does it appear after you get weapon upgrades to 5 thanks for the advice :)
>>52108925
there has been a number of 4chan corps. usually they implode, because you know dickwads.
your best bet is finding some nice cozy friendly corp that will help teach you the ropes. it's not hard to find one, most of them want new blood
>>52116020
I'm Amarr how do I look for one where is there to search?
>>52116044
either you can go into the corp menu thing and search, or go into the one corp recruitment channel but that can be chaotic with a lot of people talking
also you can just fly around in high sec and ask in local if anyone is interested in a newbie
Don't worry mate, I think you're just in time for the race wars.
>>52116079
I don't think I've left low sec since I only got the game on saturday.
>>52116044
also, while Amarr is master race, it doesn't impact in game so much, most players dont notice or care which race your character is, it affects some stuff but regardless the game is open to you
>>52116152
okay, that's brave
>>52116152
uh you start in a hi-sec
you'd get ganked if you go to low sec
>>52116179

>>52116213
>>52116240
