>You poor fool, I'm not European, I'm british/french/german!!!
>>
It's more hipster to say that you are European over your actual fucking nationality.
>>
Only americans call people European. The places are just too different to warrant that title.
>>
Europe is just a continent

when will you learn
>>
>>52090388
And they only say that becuase the uneducated fucks can't tell the difference between ~50 countries.
>>
>why aren't you identifying as being from a continent instead of the culture and nationality you are so Americans don't have to learn things, it's 2015
>>
>>52090581
Shut the fuck up Belgium
>>
>>52090388
I wouldn't do that and most people I know don't do it either.

Except when referring to those unremarkable countries that nobody cares about like the Netherlands and Belgium. They're just Europe.

Is it ok if I call myself Eurasian? Because my mindset is European but I was born in Asia.
>>
>>52090787
There are 50 countries in Europe, 45 fully recognised. A two second Google search would have told you this.

>>52090716
Didn't expect anything else, seeing as Americans only see the Netherlands as the place with the red light district and weed.

If a people control and administrate territory independently it is a country. It doesn't really matter what some foreign ministry thinks about it.
>>
>"Oh, so you're from Europe?"
>"Yes, but to be more specific, I'm actually from Belgium. You see, all of our countries are so unique and different, it's important to specify. because otherwise you may think I'm from Poland!"

>"Oh, so you're from the US?"
>"Yes, but to be more specific, I'm actually from Maryland. You see, all of our states are different and have different cultures, mannerisims, etc, so it's good to specify, otherwise you may think I'm a hick from Arkansas!"
>"OH MY GOD AMERICANS NOBODY CARES WHERE YOU'RE FROM AMERICA IS ENOUGH JESUS CHRIST LIKE SHUT UP ALREADY THERE IS NO REASON TO KNOW WHERE YOU'RE FROM AT ANY LEVEL DEEPER THAN YOUR COUNTRY, GOD."

Those two things are not comparable in the slightest.

Why would somebody say that, they would be interested in the country.

Europe has alot more history so its logical that we have different kinds of peoples, instead of a bunch of fortune seekers and criminals mixing together and genocide the indians, that's american """"history"""" for you
>>
>>52092156
He thinks that people identifying as their nationality and not just as generic "foreign people" when meeting Americans means that people have to care equally about whether he is from Delaware or Wisconsin.

Yeah, basically the exact same in every way, right?
I'm not saying "I'm from Assblast Creek, ya hear!" is the equivalent to saying "I'm from Southern Europe", I'm saying "I'm from the Northeast", or "I'm from Florida", is the equivalent to saying "I'm from Madrid", or "I'm from Scotland'.

9 times out of 10 if you're American and you meet somewhere here they will ask you what state you are from, anyway, so your argument is pointless. And if you introduce yourself as being from your state instead of just saying "I'm American", nobody is going to bat an eye.

You're creating a really weird false equivalency between independent European countries with different languages and cultures and American regions.

It is only comparable on a very very very small scale. American "culture" is more homogeneous than an extremely small country. The culture change from one side of Denmark to the other is greater than going from Florida to Washington state. I'm sure even (not so) similarly sized countries such as Russia differ in culture from region to region infinitely more than America does. Whether that is due to modern America's young age is a different topic.
>>
>>52091529
you're small, so you're kind of lost in the noise, sorry. how much do you know about Michigan or Indiana?
>>
>>52093751
partially due to young age, partially due to mobility i think, Americans are usually more mobile than Europeans
