We go to Church for Sunday mass, have lunch, might play the odd vidya, watch sports, go out for a walk, prep for Monday, go see a movie, .. that kind of stuff. Shocking, eh?
>>
Only happens with supermarkets, we have Indians who keep their shop open 24/7

They are not.

In most of Europe (at least western Europe), grocery stores are closed. You know, being Christian and all ..
>>
>>52087342

Nigga stop telling about our countries, there are shittons of cafe and bar and shit open.
>>
>>52087342

No.

>being Christian and all

Hahaha.. There are some small rural enclaves left where everything grinds to a halt on Sundays. But they're pretty rare. I doubt there's even a city left where everything closes.

Those have traditionally been the exception though, at least here.. Back in the 50s when everything closed the cafés, bars and restaurants were always the exception.

I don't know. I just came from shop with new laptop.

Those aren't grocery stores. Obviously restaurants, petrol stations, opera and theatre, hospitals, Turkish bakeries .. they tend to be open.

>>
>>52086735
The usual. I don't go shopping very often. Also, shops aren't closed on sundays here, they just close earlier, at like 17h
>>
What Americans don't do this?

A lot of stores here are closed on Sunday, or close early

Americans often don't even close their establishments at night... It's a freedom thing.

>>
>>52086735
It is a day of rest, the Lord himself prescribed it.

But recently, they opened shops and God knows what in order to move people away from their beneficial rest and make them sacrifice, on this holy day of rest, to the god Mammon. A moment for family and unity, but no, you have to keep us restless, tired.
>>
here groceries are not only closed on sundays but they also close on saturdays after the midday
>>
>>52086735
>What else is there to life other than buying stuff?

ok
>>
>>52088677
No we don't. I can go to the Save-On-Foods and buy whatever I need for the week. The only places that close are Banks, Government related things, Automotive Repair shops (dealerships are open).
>>
>>52088745
>tfw i can never go to the gym here at 03:00

we need 24 hour gyms/supermarkets/restaurants/everything here too
>>

>we need 24 hour gyms/supermarkets/restaurants/everything here too

In places where it's actually pays to have that it exists already.. In my city there's a 24/7 gym, and along the highways there are 24/7 restaurants and such.. I think supermarkets either can't afford the staff to open at night (because they tend to rely on teenagers, who cannot work past 23:00 legally, and adults have full time minimum wages of €1500+ a month, EXCLUDING the premiums they have to pay for night shifts, irregular shifts and shifts longer than 8 hours) or there might zoning rules that prevent them from being open.. There are plenty of smaller shops open at night though, and many gas stations have 24/7 shops attached to them as well.

All in the Randstad though, obviously.
>>
>>52086735
They close earlier, but it doesn't matter because we don't go shopping as a hobby here.
>>
>>52087468
Is this seriously comoing from a Dutchman? I think you have the worst opening times in the whole world. Every normal supermarket in whole Amsterdam (your biggest city and capital) closes at 8pm or even before. Streets are empty and nothing is going on in Amsterdam Noord after 7pm or so, and there are 10s of thounsands of people living in this area alone.

>Every normal supermarket in whole Amsterdam (your biggest city and capital) closes at 8pm or even before

A lot has changed these past years.
http://www.ah.nl/winkels
click 'na 20:00' and 'zondag' and take a look..
>Amsterdam Noord
That's mostly a residential area though.. And not necessarily the nicest, either. Back when I used to come there frequently there was always another evening/night shop being robbed. Maybe they gave up?
>pic somewhat related
Noord was pretty grim, from what I remember..(by Dutch standards)
>>
>>52094935
>Wow, there are even some open till 9pm and some are as crazy as being open till 10pm...
No, that was not my reaction. There are stores open until midnight even in most small and petty towns here. And Germany is rather in the lower end of the spectrum if you look at (South) East Asia or the Anglosphere.
>>
>>52095250

I'm not saying our closing hours aren't shit m8.. But for Amsterdam it's been 22:00 for many AHs for at least 10 years.
>>
>>52094330
>I think you have the worst opening times in the whole world
Explain why on Sunday all our cities are being flooded by Germans then?
>>
>>52091868
>24 hour gym
check
>24 hour supermarket
well it closes at 06:00 and reopens at like 12
>24 hour restaurant
same as above

Maybe get out of your sleeper town and go to somehwere with students
>>
>guise, Sunday is the holy sabbatical we can't work or have anything function
>BUT RELIGION IS FOR DUMMIES, WE ARE SUPERIOR FEDORALORDS

There were people wandering around looking at closed storefronts. Nobody does anything.
>>
>>52095599
They only have time on Sunday and only want to do the tourist stuff anyways (which has adjusted opening times, as everywhere in the world). But if you look at "normal" stores/shops like supermarkets (not ah to go), dress shops, etc. there is no country I know that has shorter opening times. I'm not even saying it's bad in general, as you can enjoy the evening if you are employed in such shops. But it's definitely outstanding compared to the rest of the world.
>>
>>52095995
That is not in my experience, but then again I am from a city with many students and it might be different in the many towns and cities without students (thus older population).
>>
>>52096052
I've been living in Amsterdam and Groningen both for an extended period of time. Opening times was one of the first differences I recognized after moving to NL. And I'm coming from a little 50k town in the middle of nowhere.
>>
>>52096179
>Groningen
Hey I live there.
Well if you say so I guess you're right. Supermarkets are a problem indeed, there are only few open after 20:00, but they're there. However I do love the unlimited bar opening hours
>>
>>52095995
>>52096179

You're definitely right about things clothing stores and things you'd see on a shopping street. Usually there's 1 evening a week when shops stay open.. Supermarkets in bigger cities are a different story though.
>>
>>52086735
The same way I spend 99% of the time (aka when I'm not shopping) the rest of the week
>>
>>52096286

No, no, yes. I'm not very active in any student organisation because I'm born nearby and have a very large friendbase here so no need for more social stuff.

Why you asking?
