Ahh, so the Holiday of Gluttony is soon upon us.
What's the best holiday food in you're cunt?
Sweden:
>saffron bread
>gingerbread with mold cheese
>creamed sweetened kale (långkål)
>pepperkeks med blue cheese
I concur.
christmas food is disgusting

No mention of julmust?
>>52083411
Yes. You have gingerbreads in the US too, it's the same.
You can buy regular blue cheese or blue cheese in tube.
They might have blue cheese tubes at IKEA, but I'm not sure.
>>52083533
it's a must
I don't like to put stuff on my gingerbread cookies. Just eat them.
>>52082312
>blue cheese and ginger snaps
Huh. Wouldn't have thought of that, might give it a try.
For Christmas in my family, we do a standing rib roast and potatoes gratin, shit's pretty cash.
GOOSE FAT LIVER
Step mom is a muh heritage fag for italy,so we eat a on of italian food.
I don't mind.
>tfw mom dies and dad makes this hot mess for us

It's not meme food you American fuck, it's the best snack there is.
Oliebollen en appelflappen
Tons and tons of cookies and gingerbread
>>52084515
Oliebollen (oil balls) is what donuts are based on. It's a fried ball of dough I guess, often with raisins and powdered sugar.
>>52084606
Forgot the pic.
>>52084658
It's eaten warm. And it's a bit sturdier than a doughnut. It doesn't have the same texture. And when you eat it you feel the calories pouring into your veins.
>>52082312
Bread sauce is my favourite thing, served on turkey. I only really have it at Christmas.
It's breadcrumbs, onion, milk, butter, cloves, garlic, and nutmeg, all made into a sauce, and it's fucking delicious.
>>52085161
I'l try it this year.
Also julmust.
>>52082312
I've also been a big fan of Lebkuchen ever since my German teacher introduced us to them. Need to find some for this year I think.
>>52085804
Speaking of German food, a lot of people here hate Sauerkraut, and I have no idea why.
It kind of just tastes like vinegary cabbage to me, and it's amazing.
How do you all feel about it? Is it just an American thing to hate foreign foods?
>>52086082
It's got a particular smell to it and if you start off by eating it on its own it might not be too appetizing.
I didn't realize it was tasty until I started using it almost like a sauce for sausages.
>>52086082
I think it lacks high fructose corn syrup for mericans
Mince pies, all month long.
>>52086150
I guess I have a very poor sense of smell, maybe that's why I never had an aversion to it.
>>52085804
I love your fudge. Every year before christmas I visit a wheinachtsmarkt near my hometown with my hole family and the highlight is always the "british things" stand for me. They have really big tables full of fudge and this year I bought fudge for 20€, some of it is "oreo flavour" and it tastes like raw cookies. I really love it
>>52086082
We have "pizza salad" in the nordic countries which is cabbage in vinegar too (though bit different than sauerkraut) which you put on pizza.
It's standard and complimentary every time you buy pizza, you get a little plastic cup with your pizza.
>>52086628
Man, everytime we have a thread about food, I want to go all over your the world and try the shit. A lot of it is hard to get here, especailly if you want it authentic.
I guess I'll just look up recipes. Some ingredients are even hard to come by here to.
>>52084658
is that the same as a Quarkbällchen, or Muzen if you know these?
Alright lads, I'm going to try all this shit this winter, even if I have to make it myself.

I also make myself some sauerkraut, because I've never tried making it, and I hear home made sauerkraut is better anyway. If you have any recipes you'd like to share, I'd be grateful to hear them.
annas pepparkakor is the holiday shit i eat. only vodka and beer.

Worst brand. They don't even taste of ginger

Christmas pudding>Christmas cake.
And the Americans have arrived to shit up yet another thread.
>>52090664
nice samefagging
>>52090579
I don't actually like Christmas Pudding. To me the taste of brandy ruins it.
Mostly same stuff than in Sverige
>gingerbread with/without blue cheese
>Glögi/Glögg/mulled wine with raisins and almonds
>>52090413
>>52090265
>In the Nordic countries, the most popular form of ginger confectionery is the pepperkaker (Norwegian), pepparkakor (Swedish), brunkager (Danish), piparkökur (Icelandic), piparkakut (Finnish) and in the Baltic countries piparkūkas (Latvian) or piparkoogid (Estonian). They are thin, very brittle cookies / biscuits that are particularly associated with the extended Christmas period.

>>52091881
I think it's a steamed dough with a meat filling.
>>52091554
In English, it would translate as a "Pepper crisp/cookie/biscuit/snap" according to my Swedish friend.
The other guy is full of shit and doesn't even seem to know proper English names for food
>>52091554
>pekkacake
>>52091855
Roasted pig leg
>>52091855
Singular is tamal, not tamale...unless you want to sound like a Mexicúck.
And there is different variations in different places, what I put in my pic is the standard Guatemalan variety, we have dozens if not hundreds of types of tamales though

>bread and butter pudding using panettone
MA CHE OOOH
>>52092499
Do it, it was lovely.
>>52092051
Both Swedish and Finnish call it a cake for some reason. Even if it clearly is a cookie.
The actual word for cookie would be kex in Swedish. But I guess its far more modern.

>>52092728
I don't really know what you're saying lad.
Fat roast duck, sweet potatoes, loads of gravy, pickled red cabbage, pork roast etc
Danish christmas dinner is goat
>>52092620
these are traditional greek sweets that we serve on Christmas.
Melomakarono is mostly sweetened with honey, while kourampies is kinda like a biscuit. they go very well together
>>52092904
That's duck not goat
>>52092548
>The actual word for cookie would be kex i
No idea what you people are on about ITT but just jumped in here to say that cookie = kaka in Swedish. Kex is a bit different, it means more like "wafer", something which is crispy.
Kaka (= cookie) can be BOTH "hard", small biscuits and big soft cakes (like birthday cakes). Some of the former could be called kex however, and some of the latter are called tårta.
>tl;dr It's a fucking puzzle, stop arguing
GOAT starter t.b.h.
>>52092744

>>52092976
Biscuit not cookie
>>52093038
For us it's the same.
>>52093038
note for you: kakor is plural of kaka
Therefore pepparkakor = pepper biscuits
>>52093079
Then you are lost.
>>52093079

>>52092744
>In England, gingerbread may refer to a cake, or a type of cookie / biscuit made with ginger. In the biscuit form, it commonly takes the form of a gingerbread man.

In most English-speaking countries except for the US and Canada, crisp cookies are called biscuits.
All this shitposting because UK hates the word "cookie"
>>52093147

No, all this shitposting is due to the OP calling it gingerbread, so I replied calling it gingerbread and autismo the muh heritage yank started having a breakdown.
It's pretty amusing really.
