I sort of wanted to join the Canadian Army [I like walking around the house pretending I'm carrying a rifle and marching into Italy to shoot Italians] or Navy [I like travel and the sea], but then I had flash backs of P.E. classes and how all my life I was embarassingly bad at physical activity. Have a buddy in the French Army. FFL isn't SF, but is a very well-trained and -disciplined infantry outfit considering the mix of nationalities. It's extremely rough to be in there as FFL is mostly made up of convicts, criminals and murderers who have nowhere else to go. You shouldn't join up unless you've really fucked up with life, because once you're in, you have to get a new name, have to learn to speak French right away and your past life doesn't mean anything.

Combination of things.
1. Part of our obstacle course had us running up a ramp before jumping off to land ~8-9ft below. One of the DS didn't like me for some reason and made me jump 20 times in a row. I was hauling my body's weight of weapon and gear at the time. I stopped only after I collapsed and the medics had to stretcher me off. Nothing happened to the DS.
2. We had a case where some dickhead al-Qaeda affiliate named Mas Selamat who managed to escape our version of Gitmo. Got deployed on manhunt, and was put on observation posts around the coast for months. Instead of catching the bugger we spent all our time capturing illegal immigrants instead. Wrecked my knees even more.
