Not in Islamabad, so I don't know, imran is a scrub, just because he is good at cricket doesn't mean that hose skills will translate to politics. All political parties are based on religion or race, we will have problems as long as either exist. The more well off youth are less religious than the poor, but I guess that applies everywhere.

I mentioned before that I have no qualms with India personally. Iran and China are just brotier countries in general. China more so in an economical regard, and Iran because I like their people and culture. Afghanistan is an extremist paradise, and that's coming from someone living in pakistan. I understand how much Pakistan harbors and incubates terrorism - and its that understanding that makes me look down on a country with a more aggressive viewpoint on religion. Also I hate Pathans, even though I could easily pass for one. Sunni extremism (read Wahhabism) and religion in Afghanistan are nearly synonymous.

>>52021405
Pakistan has all the big boy fast food places, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, dominos, Burger King, etc. currently trying to cut back on the junk food, which is hard since our diet is 99% oil. The answer to your question is yes, though.

If by fluency you mean conversational Urdu, then everyone knows it. But people usually fall back to their regional language like Punjabi, Pashto, and Sindhi. In hospitals, bartering, day to day stuff, especially in giant cities it's mostly Urdu, but people are definitely more comfortable with the regional languages.

>>52025708
If you have money and know urdu, it it by far the best place to live. I know that seems biased but money really can buy you happiness in Pakistan.

Thx, and two more questions:

1. How strong are separatist movements in Pakistan? I saw some articles about Balochi nationalists, I also heard about some Pashto movement, but is it all a real thing today?

2. How relevant is PTV World - is it a popular TV station?
>>
>>52028088
1) I hear about them but they have as much traction in Pakistan as Texas does in trying to secede from the USA.

2) PTV was really popular in the early 2000s until Musharraf allowed other networks to broadcast (I think, not sure). Currently id have to say Geo is the most watched networking Pakistan. Geo branched off into news and entertainment, and entertainment branched into sports, music and dramas. I don't even remember the last time I watched anything on PTV. Their dramas were alright tho.

Personally? It's sad that they weren't allowed to fast, but I don't know much about Chinese politics and I can't speak for the governments actions because I don't know the backstory. How do we fix Pakistan, a country with inumerable resources and an ideal transit route for vast Indian and Chinese markets, large land that's arable around a quarter, unreal natural gas reserves, surreal work-capable population, great layout for decentralization, solid agricultural potential with two fifths of people fed by this sector and so on? How do we decrease Pakistan's inflation to manageable levels, decrease its grey economy, decrease public debt? How do we tap into Pakistan's chemical export potential?

Well?

Right in the feels. I would start by bringing back a dictator tbqh and just use the army to root out corruption. Honestly politics are a huge problem. Just a little example, the local elections just happened and MQM won seats in Karachi. MQM is run by altaf Hussain, a fatty living in England for the past few years. MQM runs Karachi like a mob with an iron fist. Just a few years ago they were putting bodies in bags and dumping them near mosques. The roads are a mess in Karachi, electricity is a mess, everything is a mess so you'd expect MQM to not be voted in, right? 20% of the population voted, and MQM was elected in again. Little kids were cheering and chanting his name in the street the day after the election. You have to get rid of the current generation and then reeducate the upcoming generation. Everything will just fall in place.

Why is this? They're your Persian kin and take a lot of refugees, right? (although I guess they don't treat them very well)
>>

they're not as bad as pakistan when it comes to things like sponsoring terrorism, they took lots of refugees but they're mostly hazaras who are shia themself, iran is also shia, only 1/3 of afghanistan is actually persian/tajik

the main reason it's unfavorable is because of perceived meddling

It is funny how you rate so low Afghanistan and call them religious zealots (which they are), and rate so high India, since your government literally made the Taliban take over Afghanistan in the 90s in order to have a puppet State to his Eastern border that didn't allign itself with India.
>>
>>52044674
Jokes aside, to my understanding Karachi is a dangerous city, although since it is so big there are probably no-go hoods and livable places. Do you consider the place you live in to be dangerous, or it isn't so different from an average Indian city?
>>
>>52042657

>Persian kin
As the other anon said, about a quarter to a third of the population would be considered "ethnically Persian" (they're called Tajiks here). Other groups are Pashtuns for example. "Pasthun" and "Afghan" literally were synonymous fairly recently, because they're the biggest and most influential group of Afghanistan and basically the founders of the state. Then you also have the Turco-Mongol Hazaras, and the Turkic Uzbeks and Turkmens, among others.

But yes, Dari is the lingua franca in Afghanistan, and Dari and Farsi are mutually intelligible. So there are ties, mostly linguistic ties. But not more than linguistic ties. Religiously different, culturally different, and different attitudes.

>take a lot of refugees

Yeah, mainly Hazaras who are also Shiites (and second-hand citizens in Afghanistan). They aren't treated well from what I've heard, but they also cause problems. Can't say a lot about that.

It's just that Iran is not seen as a positive influence in the country, which in all due fairness, it's not. If it were up to me, Afghanistan would do anything to solidify India as its greatest ally.
>>
>>52044691

Like all Pakishits, he whines about "muh refugees", which would be a valid point, if it weren't a direct cause of Pakistani meddling in the country.

Don't expect them to be rational. Pakistan shouldn't even exist. A lot of it should be rightful Afghan clay. Not even being patriotic, but Afghanistan was literally meant to be the Pashtun state, yet Pakistan has more Pasthuns than Afghanistan. It's another silly consequence of arbitrary British borders (see: Durrand line).
>>
>>52044689
There are a lot of different people within different regions, so I can't give a blanket statement for all the women. The ones I believe you would marry would be from middle to upper class families: those women are pretty loyal, as that is ingrained into them from an early age. If you are white and muslim you're good to marry, but chances are on the lower side.

>>52044691
Those are just excuses tbqh, I just don't like Afghanis in general and I also have a lot of family in India. YOU CAUGHT ME ON MY BIAS.

>>52044905
Its not that bad. Its actually not bad at all. I'm trying to think of ways to assuage your fears, but then I remember the airport attacks, the bodybagging during Ramadan, countless gunpoint robberies, the trannies everywhere... Karachi is Karachi, no other way to describe it. It is a huge city though with a wide spectrum of areas. You'll find the rich bois in their bimmers racing in the street and you'll find beggars with no arms lying next to dead animals a few KM away. I can go into specifics if you want to know details about specific elements of Karachi.

I don't know how you would approach a female here. Its all networking/arranged marriages mostly. Secondly, religion is uber important for the family. It probably means fuckall for the girl. But you wouldn't want a ratchet-y ass Pakistani hoe that isn't family oriented, would you?
>>
>>52033728
The danger with authoritarian rulers is they have a tendency to be corrupted by power and overstay their usefulness.
Putin for example. 2000-2008 was good. 2008-2012 was okay. But getting elected again has made him more dictatorial, and the corruption machine is starting to grow even though he wants to get rid of it.

If Pakistan can find a strong leader who gets elected that would be good. If it's a weak democracy with weak leaders, it'll probably be worse than a dictator. China versus India.
>>
>>52045431

>>
>>52045588

>>52045581
The issue in Pakistan is that Islam carries more weight than politics. You have to beat that out of them, but I 100% see where the whole plan can go awry. If anyone in the CIA wants to plant me as the head of Pakistan, hmu, you know where to find me.

The populace itself is terribly extremist and that's especially true for the Pasthun half of the country.

Oh for sure in Karachi there are wealthy Sindhis but in Lahore Punjabis have a bigger role, and in KPK you have the Pathans. Sindhis hold almost all the power positions in Karachi and distribute jobs towards Sindhis, hence the active role of MQM (muhajir political party). Some of the schools here have quotas for how many Sindhi teachers must be a part of the school. But there are also a lot of poor Sindhis. I of course cannot speak for all of the city and on top of that I work with poorer individuals so I have an inherent bias.

Are you a muhajir?

Also, I've always had one question. I know takfiri sunni muslims don't consider shias to be muslims, but heretics; and the average salafists doesn't consider shia to be muslims either. However, since you as a shiite in Pakistan must live together with a mostly sunni environment, you'll probably have noticed teir attitudes towards you. Does the average pakistani sunni, not the crazy militant but the everyday Ahmed, which still most likely is a conservative muslim but not a die hard salafist, consider you a fellow muslim with a few differences?

Maybe I'm making a lot of assumptions here and actually the average Pakistani isn't as religious as it's been shown in the western media. Is it?

I am Pashtun, but I never learned Pashto.

While most Sunni muslims can be considered Salafi sympathizers, they don't openly out themselves in their public handling of Shias. Shia muslims have processions during Muharram where entire roads are shut down for hours at a time, and while it is a burden for those not participating, no one goes SJKDF KILL THEM ALLLLLLL. I pray at a Sunni masjid for majority of my prayers, and while you can easily point the Shia out, no one has given me dirty looks or approached me about my style of prayer. I don't even know what the average Pakistani is to be honest. I see so many different types of people that I can't really pinpoint the run of the mill, Ahmed. I'm aimlessly rambling at this point but thankfully I haven't had any problems with anyone due to my sect.

Is it more liberal than the outside world? If so, by how much?
>>
>>52048517
Its nice. Can't complain. I get the education that I need to succeed anywhere in the world. In the end its how I execute the knowledge I gained. Unis are absolutely more liberal than the outside world, but that's because of the age of students more so than anything the unis' influence. I don't know how else to gauge it but if you can give me categories I can give you a side by side comparison.

How do you feel about Wahhabism? How do your relatives, neighbors and friends feel about that ideology?

What's your opinion on US drone strikes?

Do you think things are generally improving in Pakistan?
>>

>>52049842
Sunnis generally align themselves to Wahhabi teachings even if they don't know about or understand Wahhabism. Saudi is considered an untouchable subject here, so you can see why people here might lean towards that ideology. I actually have a copy of Kitab at Tawhid which I have read a few times. Interesting stuff but I am still not learned enough in their sect to comment on any specifics. Sucks that they hate Shias so much. Unfortunately, there isn't much I can do to affect how quickly the ideaology is spreading in the world.

>drone strikes
Pakistan said yes to drone strikes. It's not like Obama decided willy nilly that he was going to do drone strikes without the Pakistani government's permission. Collateral damage is an innate part of war, but the casualties can only be blamed on the Pakistani government. I guess that's why there is general resentment for Musharraf (no pun intended).

>general improvement
The general quality of life is increasing in the world due to medical and technological innovation. Pakistan is just a little behind the curve due to religion and politics, but I have hope for a bright future!

How does it feel to be a part of a nation of butthurt islamic Indians that seperated when they got mad. A nation that has no culture other than being against India, their very own brethren. A nation that fucked over it's other islamic Indian brothers (Bangladesh).
India could have been great, if you 'paki's' never left. I'll have to admit that British fucked up as well by dividing hindu's and muslims during their rule, and especially by legitimizing the hindu script.

Explain your feels from an economic standpoint. What steps are in order, economically, to make Pakistan great
Just ignore politics for a second. Imagine you have a transparent government. Now, economic reforms, what zones in your country are best for what (what regions specialize in what, in other words), what kind of education Pakistan offers and what do you see as the future banking-tech hub in Pakistan

M8, the British removed Persian and introduced Urdu/Hindustani written in nastaliq as an official language what caused strong Hindu reactions.
>>
>>52050917
>>52052432
>With the advent of the British Raj, Persian was no longer the language of administration but Hindustani, still written in the Persian script, continued to be used by both Hindus and Muslims. The name Urdu was first used by the poet Ghulam Hamadani Mushafi around 1780.[22][23](p18) From the 13th century until the end of the 18th century Urdu was commonly known as Hindi.[23](p1) The language was also known by various other names such as Hindavi and Dehlavi.[23](pp21–22) The communal nature of the language lasted until it replaced Persian as the official language in 1837 and was made co-official, along with English. Urdu was promoted in British India by British policies to counter the previous emphasis on Persian.[24] This triggered a Hindu backlash in northwestern India, which argued that the language should be written in the native Devanagari script.

pakistan could become great if it takes advantage of mineral deposits in balochistan and sindh.

We cannot into space without Pakistan:

>Turowicz was the administrator of Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) from 1967 to 1970. He was one of forty five Polish officers and airmen who joined RPAF on contract in the early fifties. After completion of his initial contract, Turowicz opted to stay on in Pakistan and continued to serve in PAF and later, SUPARCO.

>Turowicz made significant contributions to Pakistan's missile/rocket program as a chief aeronautical engineer. In Pakistan, he remains highly respected as a scientist and noted aeronautical engineer.

I dunno. I'm critical of charity type organizations because they never really seem to fix anything they just ease the problem slightly in some places. If I do go back it would be serious shit not some vacation. I'll work my ass off to fix the nation and I'll make others to do as well.

Good question. ISIS is shit, all the other rebel groups are shit or irrelevant. And I don't like Assad much either. His government fucked this whole situation. Funny enough, they actually fueled the rise of the extremists to try to shut down the opposition. Blew up in their faces though. I suppose its best if Assad wins at the moment but even then I can't imagine Syria moving forward as a nation. Really crappy situation. Maybe I should work my way up in the world and get comfy with the Turks and convince them to annex Syria or something :P
