Why is the UK so small?
Why are European countries so small?
>>52016484
It ain't about the size of the boat, it's about the motion of the ocean :^)
>>52016551
UK is overpopulated. It's population is 64 million. That's more than countries like Australia and Canada combined.
What these puny shame-of-countries are arguing about?
>>52016484
The UK might be small but we have a number of advantages:
- the majority of the land is top quality arable land
- permeated by loads of rivers
- an ideal location in the world for trade and war
- unaffiliated by big natural disasters
Some people say the UK is overpopulated but it isn't. The UK could easily support even a 100 million population. The majority of today's 65 million population live on a tiny fraction of the liveable land in the UK, approximately 2% is built-on.

>The UK could easily support even a 100 million population
I believe it could, but we'd need a massive rethink of energy and farming. Investment in high energy density shit like Nuclear & Geothermal would allow us to start popping up farmscrapers to feed a load more people without destroying all our greenfield land.
Just going to need a shit load of money to do so.
>>52017924
Should't that picture include Australia and New Zealand too ;^)
>>52016730
>there is a part of Russia in Europe
._.
>>52018039
I agree we badly need reforms. But even expanding in our current way to 100 million would leave us with nearly all our greenfield and farming land. If we double the amount of the UK that is "built-on", to ~4%, that leaves 96% not built-on. Furthermore there's plenty of brownfield sites (and de facto brownfield in the greenbelts) before we get to greenfield.
Anyway I'm glad we're investing in a few nuclear power stations. We definitely need to spend more on infrastructure in general. Money isn't that much of a problem, a larger population will boost revenues and we'll have more money to play around with once the deficit is eliminating and the debt starts falling (lower debt interest payments)
>>52018096
New Zealand is for the most part 2 islands, each being smaller than any of the 10 in that image. Australia is arguable, some say it's a continent rather than an island.

NZ is two main islands, it's bigger than the UK overall though, even with Norn Iron.

we mostly have bogs because of the ice age, not so many swamps

>>52016858
I remember reading 50% of the land is still countryside or land which hasn't been built on, which is not bad going considering it was the world's first industrialised country and the current population.
>>52025165
>british landscape looks dull to my taste
It's comfy but not particularly varied and mostly looks like pic related. Scotland looks loads different and is wilderness and mountains. Wales is like England but greener and has some mountains. Northern Ireland nobody knows what's there,
>>52025141
Wouldn't have it any other way desu. Our hills in the south and centre are 200m at max.

>>52025624
i like this road, we have similar roads in the countryside where im from. cozy as fuck to bike around there during summer.
>>52025703

Hedgehogs don't eat honey.
>>52026424
Yes. It's a special breed of pike that only eats human penises.
>>52026424
No they're pretty harmless. They usually go for feet, hands, and penises because they look like big juicy fish. But normally they get scared from your body. If you're fairly still for a while just wiggling your toes/dick near some reeds then they might bite but I think it's like 3 bites a year or sth reported.
