Basically only old people regularly go to church and believe in god. For people under 60 being a catholic is about 3 things:
1. being able to marry in a church
2. being able to get burried in a graveyard
3. not wanting to upset your parents/grandparents

we only have "real" christians up north in their strange sects and cults. the vast majority of christians are only in it for the traditions. in finland being a christian or "part of the church" as we call it doesn't mean you believe in god and most don't. people see the church as a nice organization that helps people and holds up important values like treating others well etc.
