Could someone explain to me why being white is so important here?

I'm pretty sure this board is about 70% non-white
1) People work to make this a white haven, for whites who are generally somewhat likeminded and share the same values. People like stable predictable places.
2) People are insecure and/or have convinced themselves whites are absolutely superior and the "subhumans" would just shit up the board. Well if that's even possible.
