Most people in ukraine are just trying to get by. They don't really give a shit who is ruling them, switch their TV to pro-Russian propaganda and they will be okay with anything.
Back then Russia several times lost control over Ukraine only to assert it again later, everytime vast majority of ukranian population fell back in line quickly and we only had to kill off a small layer of die hard ukranian activists.
Think positive, it's clear that modern Russia and modern Ukraine will not reconcile, one side will win a decisive victory sooner or later and I think we will win.
