Thanks to WWI many less instructed people don't know anything about his atrocities and just see him as the "Builder King". He was extremely unpopular at the end of his reign, but the so called Rape of Belgium made people forget about it and now my hometown has a monument with pic related written on it

Also he became even more unpopular because he fathered two sons with a French prostitute 50 years younger than him. Literal meme king

Kokura Castle (小倉城 Kokura-jō?) in Kitakyushu, Japan was built by Hosokawa Tadaoki in 1602. It was the property of the Ogasawara clan (from Harima) between 1632 and 1860. The castle was burnt down in 1866 in the war between the Kokura and Chōshū clans.[1]
The keep was reconstructed in 1959, and the castle was fully restored in 1990.

One of my favorite cities in north america, New Orleans. Some have called it the closest you will ever get to Europe in America. Such a shame the people who inhabit it are shit. The city council should sponsor visas for French citizens to move there and open up French shops and teach French to children and locals and turn it back into a francophone city.
This photo was taken just after Katrina in the French Quarter. Take away the police and FootLocker sign and you could probably convince someone this was actually taken in France.
