Lesotho is very high mountains. The entire country is basically just an outline of a mountain range. It appears as clearly in a topographical map as a political map, since its borders are based almost entirely on topography. It's also one of the few places where it snows in Africa.
I don't know about Swaziland. I know it's an ethnic nation for the Swazi people, like Lesotho is an ethnic nation for the Sotho people [although loads of Sotho also live in South Africa].
The poster above is right, they're like giant Indian Reservations. Like if Russia allowed Tatarstan to become an "independent" ethnic nation, athough it's still entirely surrounded by the Russian Federation, so it can only really be quasi-independent.
