Generals and ebin :DD (and its variations) killed it
I've been here since just shortly after flags were introducing, in summer 2012 IIRC. Back then it was pretty slow too, I remember when I first arrived we hadn't even reached 6M posts yet.
I actually still have screencaps I took from some random /int/ thread from June 2012. It was bretty good, but not that much better than today. The main difference is the generals which didn't exist back then.
