Norway gained independence when it was in a union with Sweden.
It just announced it was going independent and was willing to fight for it so Sweden gave up.

Denmark was forced to cede Norway to Sweden in 1814 due to having been on the wrong side of the Napoleonic wars. Denmark didn't like the though of Sweden having Norway so instead chose to grand independence. Sweden wouldn't have any of it and so invaded Norway in 1814 which shortly surrendered and were forced into a personal union with Sweden.
Do you only get to learn about how you "won" against Sweden in 1905? When in fact we were just being bros and simply let you have your independence. In fact the vast majority of Swedes were for letting you guys have your independence.
