I'd probably build a (or several) small NH4NO3/sugar smoke bomb (very easy to make, burns rather slowly but should generate enough heat to light hay), stick in a firecracker fuse, light and throw at it (either free hand or slingshot), this way you should be able to set it on fire from a safe distance in the dark
