Every Asian teenager/college student that I've ever been friends with either ended up caving and justifying it with 'well eventually some generation will be happier down the line' or the ones that blew off their oppressive parents ended up being happier and more successful on their own terms.

I don't like it. When I was taught it in schools, I didn't know it was a actual thing. A guy who teaches it to western companies operating in China came and spoke at my university, and it was pretty shocking.
He said how Confucius was the Asian Plato, except instead of logic, he taught the 5 relationships and that is what everything is based on.
Japan successfully abandoned it during the Meiji restoration, and became the most successful Asian country.
The worst thing is Asians come here and say how great it is. Because the average Asian here does better than the average westerner. Financially you do better being forced into STEM, and working hard. But they fail to see that it's only with western influence that Asian countries have become wealthy. Otherwise everyone would be a bunch of obedient farmers.
Western society was created by a very small number of inventors. Bill Gates wouldn't have dropped out of Harvard to found Microsoft if he was Asian. His parents would have physically harmed him for that.

Funny thing is though, Confucianism here is not seen as a religion, but more like a 'way of life' or 'tradition'. Plenty of Korean Christians have no problem reconciling with their practice of worshipping their ancestors and worshipping Jesus Christ at the same time.
God knows how problematic this is if you actually read the scripture. Pretty sure there's something along the lines of "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" in the bible somewhere.
