LARD OF THE LAND
There are far too few actual Asians on this board for this thread to work
>>51796024

i am both a new worlder and asian
but i am only been to the uk
ever seen the tv show doc martin and segments about his mom, it's basically like that
>>51794239
England
Ordered, nice buses, too much overcast
How some clerks were polite whilst others were polite but couldn't hide that they were compelled to present themselves like that
Not really
>>51797125
But enough New Worlders, so tell us your experiences.
>>51794239
England, in London
Nice buses, ordered urbanism, too much overcast
Way more multiculti than I expected. Lots of Indians and muslims. Also, I was surprised on how rude some clerks were, specially if you spoke with accent
Not really
>>51796748
where do you think we are?
Most people here care only about banter and dank memes
>>51797364
Yes, I was just observing that
>>51794239
>what country/countries did you go
Went to Uni in the UK
>what did you think
Loved it, Weather is mighty shit though
>what surprised you
How nice people are (apart from Chavs and yardies)
also dignity of labour, if I told my parents I wanted to be an electrician they'd send me too a priest and psychiatrist. People don't really care about that kind of thing in the UK
>any interesting stories or tidbits?
Everybody used to call me Tamwar (never seen Easteanders so this was confusing initially)
One time in Wetherspoons some old African man kept telling me his favourite word was Discombobulated and kept saying it to me over and over again really slowly.
>>51794239
It's literally an old Russian joke about Chukcha who got his appartaments and he used all modern things in a wrong way. He used to drink from the toilet and made other crazy things.
>>51797806
we literally have the same stories about Soviet Soldiers from WW2
>>51797289

My bad. I thought my first reply hadn't passed
>>51794239
>what country/countries did you go
I visited France, Spain, Germany, the UK, and the Czech Republic.
>what did you think
In general, visiting was very good. It's hard to get an accurate depiction of the countries as I just did touristy stuff, but overall they just seemed like normal places with neat stuff around.
>what surprised you
Prague was one of the most interesting places I went, also Germany (Berlin in particular) was really boring.
>any interesting stories or tidbits?
I was walking down the street in Prague and I overhear this guy asking this really tall girl "How much?" She answered back in this boorish voice "100 euro."

You're supposed to barter in third world countries, they always ask ridiculously high prices because they think tourists don't understand everything is supposed to be cheaper there. If you don't barter they'll laugh at you behind your back.

The point is he used Canadian Tire momey. Canadian Tire is a retail chain throughout Canada, one of the largest, sort of a general purpose store. You get some fake money that can be used at their stores when you purchase things from them, like a coupon.
The joke us that he was bartering over fake money. Pic very related
>>51798671
your missing the part where he wasn't using real money, they're the equivalent of coupons
I have a question for Euros in who visit the US. Why do you guys hold hands with each other when youre walking in public? Is it for attention or something?

>what country/countries did you go
Paris, France and Italy (Venice, Rome, Pompeii for a bit)
>what did you think
Venice were beautiful, Rome & Pompeii had some cool old ruins, the food was delicious, 10/10 would go again
Paris was ok. People were surprisingly nice except for this one old cunt at the train station. Desserts were very good. Would like to visit the rest of France sometime
Oh and great wine both places
>what surprised you
kind of surprised the ancient ruins were literally right in the middle of rome
also surprisingly did not encounter any gypsies (or at least ones that were trying to rob us)
>any interesting stories or tidbits?
selfie sticks. selfie sticks everywhere

I have. Stayed with a friend who lives in Nijmegen, but we just stayed in and watched anime so I can't really comment on the country. Except that your public transportation worked like ass, tried to get back to Brussels to my relative's place, and the journey was full of delays, cancels and the tracks were cut in one place, forcing me to backtrack a fuckload to try another route. And no information about that in English whatsoever.
>>51801628
Yeah, it's been that way ever since they privatised it, worst decision in the history of railways.

Also all those strays in Greece are because we are not barbaric as you people, killing dogs like they are a pest.
A public servant collects them, sterilizes and vaccinates them, and then they are released in the city.
I feed 1 dog once or twice a week, and a stray cat that comes and goes. People in my neighborhood feed them also.
First trip to Yurop was in Rome around 04-05, got robbed by some Middle-Eastern looking kid (Egyptian I think) but was stopped by the bolice nearby who shook him up and baton'd his ass. Got my wallet back and they hauled him to a police car.
I live in third world country and I was never robbed here so it was a new experience for me to get robbed in a first world country.

Especially those, they watch degenerate American reality shows. And we generally don't dub TV, just sub it, almost only with programs for the very young.
>>51804209
I think you might've misunderstood.
There's nothing wrong at all with the food you'll find in the UK, per se, but most of that food is not really British cuisine, is it? Some of the best Italian and Japanese food I've ever had was in London.
Food in the UK = Top notch
UK cuisine = The fucking worst

If people knew how shit Northern Scandi food is the memes would be endless.
Fortunately for them, they're so irrelevant no one knows about their food, except the few who've travelled there.
As it is, most stereotypes that float around today are the same ones American GIs took back with them after WW2.
>>51804803
I've never traveled outside of the country, that poor.
>>51804812
I suppose that's fair enough.
I guess there's a pretty good reason why there's no such thing as a 'Norwegian Restaurant'...
I'm going to Yurop next week. Naples mainly, expecting to be mugged. Will keep you posted.
>>51804736
>He's never eaten one of our many pies, sausages, cheeses, desserts or roast dinners
English food can be lovely m8, you're right that some of it is dire but mostly it's good quality produce cooked nicely with sparing seasoning, much like most of europe
>>51805213
They'll think you're a refugee. The EU will probably give you free money.

Brunost is quality tbqhwy. There was actually was a craze of "Scandinavian open sandwiches" ie bread with stuff on a few months ago in London. Probably the only time I'll be able to find brunost for sale here
People in France and Spain couldn't get over my fucking hair when I was over there. It was how I'd have expected E. Asians to react, weird as fuck.

>"Scandinavian open sandwiches"
>open sandwiches
I wish there were a more convenient way of saying that in English. 'Open sandwich' sort of seems to imply that there's a lot more going on than just a slice of bread and some cheese, tbqh.
>>51805564
I did, actually. This team of guys came running up to me with combs and scissors and took a bunch of pictures playing with my hair.
>>51805597
I'm mostly white, but my hair is extremely fluffy. Look up a picture of Kyle from South Park
without his hat and you're pretty much there.
Venice, Barcelona and Paris, but it was only 2-3 days per city, so it's hard to have a well founded opinion.
Barcelona was clean, pretty and brimming with qts. Paris seemed a bit tense, but still pretty. I was there 2 days before the attacks.
The people were nice, a girl came to us in Venice to ask if we were lost or needed help when we were looking at a map.
I'd like to visit the UK, too.
>>51805719
The "open sandwich" thing is only related to specifically Scandinavian stuff. Normally in England we'd just say "cheese on toast" or "bread and butter" or whatever
>>51797953
>Berlin
>Boring
Berlin may be a lot of shitty things but you really fucked up if you thought Berlin boring.

We call those "open-faced sandwiches" over here. It seems deceptive, like "land-boat" or something.

>what country/countries did you go
I went once with my family to see more family in England. Then I went to France, Spain, Italy, Vatican and Austria. The second time I went to Europe, I went there to study abroad in the Czech Republic.
>what did you think
First time was pretty cool, I loved the scenery and the food. The second time was amazing, mainly because since I lived there a bit longer I was able to explore Prague and the Czech Republic. I partied a lot and I would love to live in the Czech Republic again in the future
>what surprised you
A lot of things really but the thing that always gets me the most is the language barrier. Idk I just think it's crazy that people think in a completely different ways and I had to find out how to communicate with them.
>any interesting stories or tidbits?
Other than the typical gypsy got my money in Italy story. I lost my virginity to a prostitute in Prague, that was nice.
>>51806058
Yeah I thought that maybe there was some kind of event that we were missing on that day.
Had a great time overall, though, I will try to go back sometime
>>51805999
Berlin is a weird place for going out because it's very spread out for a metropolis and there isn't a single centre because it was split for half a century. You have to know exactly which hip neighborhoods or converted industrial places to go to.
>>51794239
>portugal

Paris was unbelievably dirty when I went there. There was garbage everywhere, even the fountains. Collectors must have been on strike.
>>51805930
>We call those "open-faced sandwiches" over here
>an even longer word
See, this is what I don't get.
What exactly is it that makes it a sandwich? Here, a sandwich is only a sandwich if the contents are bound by two separate pieces of bread on either side. I understand there are cultural differences, but I'm genuinely confused as to what physical property of the so-called "open-faced sandwich" makes it a sandwich, seeing as there is only ONE slice of bread and not two.
Why can't you call it something else... something simple... a five letter word... "skive" or simply "slice"?
>>51805999
This is what happens when you don't do your research before you travel.
>>51794239
Coolest: Switzerland had some of the best nature I've ever seen in my life. Just the train ride in was mindblowing. Canyoning and skiing were tops.
Not so school: Paris was underwhelming and dirty. A bunch of Parisians were extremely rude to my friend from Quebec who we were traveling with. Wish I'd seen more of France because I heard good things about other cities and the country side.
Everywhere else was great. Also Australians are some of the loudest people I've heard in my life, but mostly funloving. They also had somewhat of a reputation for being obnoxious and starting fights. A group of Aussies at this bar in Prague ordered a round of Jaegger bombs for the entire bar.
>>51806313
Exactly, it's not a fucking sandwich if it's not sandwiched between 2 pieces of bread. That's the entire point of a sandwich. Otherwise you've just got a meat and cheese salad with a single chewy crouton.
>>51806313
Here they're called sandwiches

I lived in Poland for one year and visited Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, France and Lithuania. I think French and Polish culture are very close to Brazilian, but in different ways: France seems to be a society that rewards extraversion and expression, Poland is a traditional place where hospitality and family life are still strong social forces. I felt most at home in these two places, therefore.
Germanic countries and the Czech Republic are undeniably pretty, but I found the people a bit strange. Food is quality stuff usually, when you get to the artisanal produces, it also felt like home because I'm from a small town in São Paulo. Polish women are the most beautiful of those, and they love foreign dick so I was set. Netherlands is way too diverse, I saw Brazilians in quite a few places, and could understand what europeans mean about muslims "invading".
Gypsies tried to get my money in the Alexanderplatz but I'm fucking Brazilian so I talked them down, stomped a little and did the crazy face and those fuckers went away. I discovered Brazilian passports are really nice because whenever I was in a situation they would ask for it, mine only got a quick look and a smile. Berlin feels kind of lifeless, Munich and Dresden are quite different. Austria seems perfect in quality of life matters.
Slavs in general are very funny people, sometimes unintentionally.
>>51804209
