So from what I understand, Turkish people came from somewhere, entered the Eastern Roman Empire and sacked Constantinople. There, they established the Ottomon Empire, right?
In other words - is modern day Turkey originally Ethnic European land? Or was it just the Western side of Turkey that was Ethnic native European land?
Did the Kurds inhabit the Eastern side?
Also, where did Ethnic Kurds originate from?
>>51773709
It was partly Armenians, partly Greeks, partly whichever group the Byzantines relocated to live there (they were big on large-scale resettling), partly Assyrians and other misc. ME groups.
>>51773799
I'm just wondering - which group would have the right to retake Western Turkey?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Anatolia
Also....
After WW1, why the fuck didn't the West do a massive campaign to displace the ethnic Turks, and retake and re-populate it with Europeans??
Back thenext political correctness didn't exist, it was their last chance to do so - what gives?
>>51773932
Brit and frog have been sucking roach dick for centuries, open up a book and see for yourself.
>>51773932
None cared about Greeks just because they were "Europeans" you idiot. This is pure anachronism of yours, diplomatic relations were based on religion and royal marriages, not in late XX-century "European identity".
Also the Ottomans were the strongest Empire in the known world for quite a while.
>>51774054
You must have failed history class if you think that was the case around WW1 and the preceding century.
The ottomans had been slowly disintegrating for centuries when WW1 erupted. The only reason it was allowed to exist for that long was because the western European powers did not wish for the Habsburg empire or the Russian empire to gain the ottoman lands, and disturb the balance of power as a result. It was kept alive only because it was convenient for some of the powers that ruled the world.
>>51774054
The question still remains: why didn't they attempt to displace Muslims in favour of Christians?
>>51774439
Why should they? At that point Anatolia was longer muslim than it was christian.
>>51774262
fug I was thinking of pre-1815 Ottomans when I said that. Lapse of mine.
>>51774481
So the British didn't care at all about the population transfers that happened as soon as they left or could they just not do anything? Contantinople was either at or above 50% non-Muslim when it was occupied.

Woooow that's crazy how Russians and Turks still hate each other
Turks must have been scared shitless being surrounded by the Soviet Union
The highlands of Anatolia were among the last lands settled by the Turks, not the first. The Turkish core is the same territory as the core of the Byzantine Empire that preceded it, namely, the lands surrounding the Sea of Marmara (Istanbul).
The Danube Valley, the Balkanans were more important than any other part of the Empire and the conquest of Vienna was crucial. Arguably everything else was a drain of resources than anything profitable and Anatolia itself was just a convenient barrier against invaders from the East.
By the end, Vienna probed to be just out of reach for the Ottoman, with two massive, multi-decade military campaigns failing to secure the city. Consequently, the Europeans were able to bleed the Ottoman Empire in the Pannonian Plain, sowing the seeds for the empire's withdrawal from Europe and eventual fall.
Anatolia was just the backwater part of the Empire that no-one else wanted.

cockroaches has no place in history, friend
Turks are Turkicized native Anatolians (Hittites, Mitannis, Hattians, Lydians, Greeks, etc.) Kurds are an Indo-European people related to Persians and other Iranian groups; they descend from the Medes of antiquity.
>>51774770
So basically a civil war?
Turkey fought Ottoman Empire and the Allies?
What the fuck, didn't know that.
>>51775007
>Turks are Turkicized native Anatolians
also a lot of balkanites. after balkan wars 5 million "turks" migrated to anatolia. turkey's population was 11 million when 1. founded.
>>51775147
Ataturk was from Thessalonica, but he was ethnic Turk.
>>51775187
>ethnic Turk
there is no such thing anymore. ethnic turks are supposed to look like mongolians. ataturk ever likely had some ethnic balkan roots.

It was a way more based than your shitty war of independance.
>>51775016
Sultan was a traitor who loved allied dick.
Ottoman parliment didn't accept the annexation of half of Turkey.
Allies brought democracy to Ottoman Empire and occupied İstanbul and shut that parliment down.
People re-elected a new parliment in anatolia which made war againts annexation.

Yes. Turkey used to be European. Specifically Greek. Turks ultimately came from Mongolia, but they invaded Rome as the Seljuks which were in what is not Turkestan. And all of their people migrated to Anatolia and established the ottoman empire.
