Living rooms of /int/?

For those that don't know what a living room is, it's also called the "family room". It's the "main" room in your house. That is, where you'd entertain guests, or play board games during a blackout.

A foyer is an entrance area, like where the cute girls in your Chinese cartoons take off their shoes, or the lobby in a hotel.

that seems like a shitty place for your battlestation.
somebody could walk into your house while youre masturbating and the whole neighborhood would see your dick. also if it is winter youll be cold when people open the door.
you also have to turn around quite a bit to see the tv.

Is this a student apartment?

>student "apartment"
>implying

Not OP, but are you literally insane? Student "housing" is a joke. You usually get a single run-down room with a prison-grade "bed", and are lucky to have a kitchen of your own that isn't shared with your entire floor, let alone a fucking living room.

The only reason people stay in student "housing" versus an actual apartment is because their student loans will cover it, even though the apartment usually costs the same (or less) and provides way more.

Ranting aside, here's my room (older pic but I can't be bothered to take a new one). It's one of 12 in my "house", and we have a shared kitchen. No common room. I pay more for this place than I would for an entire apartment downtown in my city, and my school's student living space is actually one of the better ones. My friend's room is about half this size and doesn't even have a window, but he pays the same as me.
>>
>>51776049

I mean, my student dorm looked much nicer than that.
>>
>>51775001
Honestly, it's the best place I could put it. I can't really do much with the wall with the window because glare, the balcony door, and heaters. Same with the wall opposite to where it is now - heaters. And there's no wall on the other side, just the kitchen counter and front door. I could have put it in the middle of the room, but that's terrible.

>>51775846
Lel. What magical world do you live in where students get more than a broom closet? See >>51776049.
>>
>>51776164

>What magical world do you live in

America
>>
>>51776212
No, seriously, where do you live that student "housing" isn't a total shitfest? My wife's from California and it's just as bad there. I have friends on the East Coast and it's just as bad there. I don't know anybody in the South, but I can't imagine them being good to students.

Where in America are you? Also, post your dorm.
>>
>>51776212
>claims his country's student housing is better
>but doesn't post proof

Damn, you guys really are delusional.
>>
>>51776245
We have a lot of schools in the middle of nowhere, so I'd assume that's where student housing is a decent size.
>>
>>51776245

At mine each student got their own 15x10 ft room. Two students would share a bathroom and every 4 bedrooms shared a living room, kitchen and storage. Then there was a main living room on each floor with metting rooms, tvs, etc plus a much larger great room on the main floor with activities. Each floor also had its own laundry and there was a gym, small library, study rooms, and cafeteria. Everything was done up really nice and super comfy.

Grad students got their own regular sized apartments as student housing.

>>
>>51776456
So...still pretty shitty? Like, yeah, the rooms are decent, but they're still very small, and you probably pay a lot to live in them. The lobby on every floor is nice, but I'd hardly count that as part of the student's apartment: it's a shared space for every student on that floor; a common room.

Not sure why there needs to be laundry on every floor, but alright.

>horseback riding

So without Googling further, I'm going to assume this is a rich kid's school, yeah? So it probably costs even more than I'd initially thought.

Just get an apartment off-campus and take the bus. You'll have a lot more space and will probably pay less in rent. I don't get why anybody still lives in student housing if they don't have to.
>>
>>51776575
>Pay a lot

I paid nothing

Also, each "apartment" also had its own living room.

>rich kid's school

No. It was in the midwest. Everyone went horseback riding, boating, etc there.
>>
>>51771645
Is this your "livingroom" then? Is housing expensive in Canada?
>>
>>51776370
Hm, possibly. I only really know people from cities, myself included, so even a full-sized apartment here is "small" for the price, when you compare it to the housing in more rural areas. Space is hard to come by here though, so that might be why.

>>51776394
That certainly sounds comfy, anon. I've only seen two schools here that had layouts like that, and both were pretty pricey universities. You could find better pricing for housing off-campus too, but then you'd have to commute (though personally I don't see the big deal in that).

>>51776673
Eh, depends on where you go. Housing in Toronto, Vancouver, and so on? Forget about it. No way in Hell are you even affording a bedroom in a basement in a rough neighbourhood unless you're making WELL above minimum wage (and even then, forget saving any money for a house, which is even more expensive). Outside of major cities...eh, depends. I'm in Sudbury, and my place costs 725$ monthly. It's downtown and includes utilities, so it's not too bad, but it is one of the cheaper buildings in the city.
