Because in the end, the war of 1812 was one of the best things that could ever have happened to this country.
-It ended in status quo ante bellum, and had a relatively small casualty count for everyone involved.
-Indians were mostly taken care of, as was British resistance to manifest destiny westward.
-The British blockade forced Americans to stop just importing everything from europe, jumpstarting a domestic market that would help turn the US into a superpower down the road.
-What would become canada got keked out of land-deals in post-war treaties and dealings between the US and the UK.

The US failed at its secondary goal of annexing Canada. They were depending on Canadians wanting independence from the British Crown, rebelling against their British masters, and joining the American troops. Instead, the Canadians chose to sit on the sidelines. Canadians would end up waiting until 1982 before getting independence from Britain.
Although they failed to liberate Canada from the British monarchy, the US did achieve its primary goal. It was able to dissolve the Tecumseh Confederacy. This allowed for easy expansionism all the way to the West coast without unified, European backed, native resistance. Having to renovate one large building seems a small price to pay for Manifest Destiny.
